This recorder is well made, sturdy in the hand and built to last. It feels solid without being heavy, and the tone it produces is quite clear and warm. Ours has already survived a dunk in a puddle and a tumble onto the garden path (courtesy of my ten-year-old), and it has not cracked or warped a bit, so it is safe to say it is up to the task of life with young learners. It is especially well-suited for beginners, with a design that stands up to knocks and scrapes and a smooth, easy-to-clean three-piece body (mouthpiece, middle joint, and foot joint). The standard 8-hole layout (seven at the front, one at the back) covers the full range needed for most early music books, and although it is made of plastic, the tone is surprisingly pleasant, clear and balanced across registers, without needing too much breath control. That gentle responsiveness is a real plus for children still getting the hang of things. I also appreciate the little extras it comes with: a cleaning rod, a fingering chart, and a soft pouch to keep everything together. It is light and well-balanced, with smooth-edged tone holes that feel comfortable under the fingers, no sharp or scratchy spots. Happy to recommend!

Does what it's meant to

This recorder looks OK but the lower register notes don't work. E and F come out with the same pitch so it is of no use and cannot be played. A shame. The leather bag it comes in is nicer than the fabric ones of other brands. But their recorder works!
