Great 27in 165Hz monitor
I picked up the HP OMEN 27q during the Christmas 2023 sales for $189, and it has been an outstanding performer ever since. I've heard about the two potential display panel versions (LG and another manufacturer), with the LG one being reportedly superior. You can check yours via Menu > Information > HW Revision – if the first digit is 'L' (e.g., L0IT1121), you have the LG panel. Image quality is generally good for the price, offering decent color accuracy and brightness. The 165Hz refresh rate hits a sweet spot for most me and hardware capabillities, providing a smooth experience without being overly demanding. While I use a color profile from Rtings.com for more accurate colors than the factory calibration, the out-of-box Native color setting is still solid. The stand is impressively sturdy, takes minimal desk space and is highly versatile, allowing for height, tilt, swivel, and even pivot (vertical/horizontal) adjustments, which is a huge plus for ergonomics. Note that there are no built-in speakers, but a convenient headphone jack is included (although the sound quality coming from it might not be as good as directly from your computer or a DAC). Connectivity includes HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4; to achieve the full 165Hz refresh rate, you'll need to use the DisplayPort connection, HDMI only allows for up to 144Hz. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. It's an excellent monitor, especially for the price I paid.

Good price for the Specs
I needed a monitor that was smaller than 30 inches but had 2k resolution with something close to 165 hz and this fit it perfectly. The highest brightness is defintely too much so it can definitely suit whatever needs you may have. The HDR is a nice additional feature although I don't use it because I like the color of the screen without it. It's good that the mounting slot behind it is standard so it fit my dual monitor wall stand. I don't know about other 27 inch monitors, but the wall mount slot was lower compared to my smaller older monitor, so I had to move my wall stand higher since it touched the table. My other smaller monitor sits higher because of this but I do not mind it. This is definitely what I was looking for and for a steal of a price so I am happy with the monitor.

For those who want high color accuracy
This is a good monitor but as with most monitors if you want to match your laptop and/or other screens you will have to tweak the color profile. Even if you don't have a screen to match, there are some changes you can make to improve the color accuracy: There is a noticeable green tint with the default settings, thus making whites look dirty. To fix this you should go to the monitor's menu, click the center icon, go to color, and then RGB Gain Adjust. Here you should set Red to 245, Green to 235 and keep Blue at 255. Your monitor's whites and overall color will look as it should. Mine is a BOE panel so you may not have to do this if you received an LG one. I have a mac and I spent quite some time trying to find the best color profile to replicate my 2021 MacBook Pro's retina display. You can change your color profile in you Mac’s system settings > displays > (click on the OMEN screen on top) > color profile. What I chose was "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". This profile best matches Apple's native XDR display color profile. I have a few monitors and this is my new favorite. I specifically wanted a 2k monitor as it's the sweet spot in having a high-res screen while not over straining your hardware. P.S. To turn it sideways, so that it doesn't hit the table, tilt the monitor up as far as it goes (so the bottom is towards you) and then move it clockwise.

Massive value for money
Got it on sale on 2023's black Friday. Packaging came damaged on a corner, which scared me, but thankfully the monitor comes well protected by several cardboard layers, so it was fine. Given it's price, the monitor performs very well all the blurbusters tests, almost no ghosting, zero artifacts and very good response times, colors look nice and it didn't show any dead pixels. The monitor has a very large space to fit any monitor arm, but one screw is particulary too tight, so much so I damaged it. But if you don't plan to move the monitor so often you'll be fine. The monitor is very light, so it wouldn't be a problem even for small monitor arms. Also, it doesn't have any cumbersome power bricks and comes with an old-scholl 3 prong power cable, which is ideal for cable management. It's got its quirks tho, keep them in mind if you consider them a deal breaker: HDMI input is only 2.0, so, in order to take advantange of the full 165 Hz refresh rate, you must use it with DisplayPort. Also, FreeSync doesn't work with USB hubs, but that may be related to the hubs themselves. However, the monitor claims to be G-Sync compatible (but not certified), I wasn't able to turn on G-Sync, neither with HDMI or DP. If you plan to use it with HDMI input, make sure to have an HDMI cable already, as this monitor only comes with a DisplayPort cable. Unfortunately, the display fails at most high-end tests, like wide color gamut and HDR tests, however, you shouldn't expect top of the line performance at this price. As a casual gamer who also works with code and Excel, this monitor greatly exceeded my expectations. 100% recomended.

Great Value Gaming Monitor
Great gaming monitor for the price. The refresh rate and build quality are fantastic for a monitor in this price range. I have no complaints and would happily purchase another.

Bought this as a companion for the 'better' 27i. It's almost identical.
I have the 'better' Omen 27i. This unit has almost the exact same specs and is almost identical to the 27i. If you get a chance, pick of of these up. It's basically the 27i but without all the cool lights and the base mount. I am using a dual monitor holder, so it really doesn't matter what the base is like. Same 1440p. Same 1ms. Same 165hz. Same size. Almost identical from the front. No lights. Boo hoo, who cares? Side by side on my desk they look almost identical, so it doesn't trigger *my* 'ocd'. Get this monitor. If you're on the fence, jump off of it and place the order. This is a very nice monitor.

Excelent price quality
Being from a country with low offer on monitors (Argentina), importing is a new alternative. Aside from that, we also have to add to the price the shipping and the import taxes. Having that in mind, that added up to 320 usd (200 from the monitor) its still a really competitive price. The monitor has good viewing angles and high enough brigtness (I have my PC next to a window), but i would like for the minimum to be lower than it is. The refresh rate is at a good spot, being 165hz good enough for most gamers, with low ghosting seen in games like CS or Fortnite. 27 inches with 1440p is the sweetspot for monitors.
