Shame about no support for smart TRV’s
I used this to replace a UH4 none wireless unit. Don’t know why there’s only an eight way for the wireless as an option.Purchased with the Heatmiser Neo and two additional Neo Air V3 thermostats to add to my two Neo Air V1’s. The manual is in need of a rewrite. A lot of trial and error was experienced to pair it the thermostats, especially as my previous system had two Neo Air paired to the wireless remotes as they were used to send 240v to the UH4 to allow wireless Air thermostats to control two zones. There is a lot of info on the forums but that most of what people are asking should have been mentioned in the manual.I used one of the remotes I had installed previously for an under floor zone to control the request for heat at the boiler. The UH8 allows connection of wired actuators to turn on under floor heating manifold valves, but I guess you could install one of the wireless relays somewhere near a radiator and use as a switch to activate a wired actuator on the radiator. That would work fine but the ability to control battery powered TRV’s is a major downside. The app for iPhone is ok, but if you set a Neo Air thermostat to an underfloor zone during pairing to the UH8, these setting have to be manually assigned separately to each thermostat in the app as well. The system uses Zigbee for interconnection between Hub/Stats/UH8 so the lack of TRV support is baffling. There is some articles on Reddit regarding some projects working on integration into a home server system. Haven’t tried that myself yet. Tried several times to pair the system to Alexa with no joy. It paired fine to Apple Home, app says I need to update the app but already the latest version. So come on Heatmiser and release a TRV and make £50 a unit like all the rest of the companies out there. The app is much better than setting the heat schedule on the thermostat's. I think geo operation is possible but haven’t tried it yet. The app logs the room temperature, tracking of this information is in a graph form like the Wiser system. So here’s hoping for TRV’s in the near future 🤞
