Planes [Blu-ray] [Region Free]

Don't bother reading the reviews on this movie, as they weren't very good. Our theory is that getting a toddler to sit in a cinema is a difficult one. But play the movie at home and it's a different story. Our son loves Cars, and he loved this even more. The graphics are better than Cars (as you would expect as technology moves on). The storyline is wonderfully heart-warming and it's amazing how much of the friendship and triumph over adversity messages a 2 year old can understand. Dusty is a really cute character, along with his friends. The bonus film is great for parents too, with the creators explaining why they made the movie, and love of planes. Plus each character (El Chupacabra and Ishani in particular) videos are cute. Although I am sure all designed to extract more money out of parents as spin-off films might be in the pipeline.

Despite lukewarm reviews Planes tuns out to be a very entertaining movie even for adults because of course with most Pixar movies the jokes are plentiful. I only bought it to add to my 3D collection and because it was second hand and relatively cheap. Being all about planes I imagined the 3D would be impressive and it was. There was of course a message, well more then a couple and they weren't blatant and they promoted only good ethics. I started watching it to check the 3D and went on watching it to the end. I have great grandchildren now and know the boy and possibly the girl would love this movie. Cheers.

Movie: Good movie feels a bit shorter then usal moviece with fast track character development, animated texture could be better but feels like a disney chenel movie.

I have to say, I was reluctant to see this in the cinema as I am not really a fan of Cars but I ended up really loving it, I don't know why it appealed to me so much more, the 3D was amazing in some of the flying scenes but it was the story and the characters which just got my attention and that of my two boys who are 9 and 11, my 11 year old in particular is very picky about films now and he too said he was surprised how much he liked it. I will definitely be watching this again when we get the Blu-ray so don't be put off like I was, I think many lessons have been learned since Cars, this is 100% better.

Planes is a mildly entertaining adventure set within the world of Cars. It is a curious venture for Pixar, firstly to make something dominantly based for the straight to DVD market and secondly to make something that doesn't carry the same humour as most of its other output or the depth in characters.It may be because the whole concept of Cars was a difficult one to sell to adults. The characters were never as cute and cuddly as the likes of Toy Story or Bugs Life etc but the appeal to kids is plain to see. Shiny bright cars with big smily faces zooming all over the place is a captivating idea of anyone smaller than your kneecap. However it doesn't quite feel like it transfers as well to Planes.The characters themselves are lazily drawn. They same old cliches are trotted out and this is basically a re-run of Cars' storyline just set within the world of flying rather than driving. Even the lead character Rusty sounds similar to Lightening and is certainly not as likeable. However for all the flaws this film has there are some positives which help keep this a little entertaining.The flying sequences are superbly animated and just about thrilling enough for you to wish for more. The animation throughout is typically top notch and the running time is perfectly comfortable for the small attention spans watching.In the great scheme of things Cars was never Pixars crowning jewel although a superior sequel went some way to address the originals flaws, so maybe Planes 2 can do the same. From an adults point of view the film felt a little cynical, but I can already hear an outcry of outrage from the under 8 community!!

what's not to like I mean pixar are doing a good job with there 3d animated movies and since I'm a fish in water when it comes to looking at how they make the movies and also watch it for what it is I can only say that it is a good created movie and :-) if your crazy about the cars movies and other pixar movies it's worth a peek :-) and yeah yeah yeah I know it's Disney who owns Pixar but what can I say I still look at Pixar as one stand alone company from when they were a company by themself :-)

How an itty-bitty crop duster plane wins hearts,minds and...,races ?I was 'tricked' into buying this DVD by the preview of a prop plane taking off from a battleship.What I expected I didn't know,but it sure wasn't what followed.Good animation though.I like the idea of mini forklifts being 'carried' over from the Cars movie,they're good minions,etc.They certainly help sell how changes and maintenance 'occur' to machines.I guess they're here to stay.The comic turns of the Mexican plane are very entertaining and reminded me of the film Despicable Me.

Dvd qui se disait usagé, mais il était comme neuf et soigneusement emballé. Très satisfaite !
