Beautifully written, wonderfully illustrated
We’re Different, We’re the Same (Sesame Street), written by Bobbi Jane Kates and illustrated by Joe Mathieu, is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that carries a wonderful message for anyone lucky enough to read it. I purchased and read this book to my two early elementary grandsons. The story is a wonderful discussion starter to broach the topics of diversity and inclusion. While the storyline addresses everyone’s similarities, it does so in a way that celebrates the differences we each possess. For instance, everyone has a nose that works the same way, but they are all different shapes, sizes, and colors. This well thought out book is designed to keep people together, not divide them and is meant for a young audience that just may be the people who actually achieve this lofty goal.I did enjoy sharing this story with my grandsons, having the deep conversation it invoked, and I do recommend it!

Board book is shortened version!!!!
We have the hardback version with paper pages & my 1 year old absolutely loves it but struggles to “help” turn the pages without ripping or wrinkling them. Bought the board book version for her & also as a gift for a niece, and the board book version is shortened! It’s very good quality and vivid pictures but I do wish that the end where it says the part “a rainbow would be boring if it were only green or blue, so aren’t you glad you look like you?” would be the full paragraph because it’s my favorite part of the book. Still read this to my baby pretty much daily. Highly recommend.

Wholesome book
The book came intact and the quality feels good. Love the pictures in the board book. Looks vibrant. Short sentences so it’s easy to read. Great message.

Not perfect, but it's not bad, and my kid *loves* this book
One of the books my son (two years old) makes me read over and over. He adores this book, which is about how everyone is different and the same (ie, it talks about noses, eyes, skin, etc., showing how everyone is different with these things, but then shows how noses, eyes, skin, etc., are all the same as well). He loves to point to all the different people and body parts in the book and talk about them. For example, he'll point and ask about what the people are doing in a scene, or when the book is talking about eyes, he'll say "Eye!" and point to his eyes or mine. The book is constructed a little flimsy considered how rough kids are with things. I'm not a huge fan of some of the content, but most of it is good. I leave some parts out when we read this out loud just because as a family, we're pretty sensitive to disability issues and this book tries and fails at that (including a person in a wheelchair in one of the crowd scenes doesn't matter when you're talking about how all bodies are the same because they can all dance ...). It's much better than most books at racial diversity. It doesn't address gender at all, just skips that completely. If your kid isn't familiar with Sesame Street already, they're likely going to be a bit confused by the Sesame Street characters in the book. My kid doesn't watch Sesame Street regularly, but he was at least enough aware of it that he wasn't completely puzzled. It still took him reading it a few times to make the connection though.

With all the awful stuff going on in our world right now, this sweet book speaks truth.
This book is simple, sweet, and gets the point across that we are all different and the same. Such a sweet, meaningful book in a time when I want my son to be friends with all people and to rejoice in our differences. It is so practically concrete and will grow with your child. Basically, a Sesame Street take on being respectful, tolerant people. I pray that one day our country will once again embrace the idea of respecting each other, peacefully protesting without attached crimes, and allowing our children to grow in a world of acceptance, where differences are appreciated, respected, and the future is filled with possibilities.

Ótimo para mostrar a diversidade!!
Meu filho de 3 anos adora este livro. Confesso que achei que fosse maior. Talvez a versão de capa dura seja mais interessante para as crianças, mas de qualquer forma o conteúdo é muito bom!!

Great message and beautiful illustrations
My almost 2 year old LOVES the book. Of all his toys and books this keeps his attention the longest. He loves to cuddle up and read with me or sit alone and flip though it.The message of the book is just lovely and the illustrations are so well done and it seems there is always something new to see each time we read it.I highly recommend this book.
