Well made
I installed this in my security camera NVR to replace the existing 2 terabyte disc. The software formatted it quickly and it immediately began recording. I’ve done a couple of playbacks with no issues. It’s now completely full and the overwrite process has not experienced any issues.

Back in business
I was not able to playback on my home surcurity cameras. I purchased the disk, it has more storage, little to no noise and has been working properly.

Excellent replacement NVR drive
Bought this after the drive in my NVR died.Installed this and it has performed flawlessly in the couple months I've had it. FWIW, this make and model is widely regarded as the best for security camera recording as far as the research I've done online.

Was good until now… less than a month with the drive half written on
WD has been in the drive business for ages. Drive is quiet, installs easily and works well in my NVREdit: so after being installed for less than a month, drive starting to make some noise. An intermittent squeaking almost like a faint beep. To me sounds like something’s going on in the head as though it hit bad sectors on the drive platters. I turned off the recording feature on the NVR and the noise went away so now I know it’s not the machine itself….. bad sectors in less than a month and the drive was barely half written on…. I reformatted the drive and now it’s quiet again at the cost of losing all my data. Am I going to have to do this every month? ….. I chose this drive because of WD reputation in the HDD business, now that thought went down the drain…..Edit: after formatting the drive, noise went away for a few days, started to do the same thing again…. Returning this and ordering from different major manufacturer

Great for Home Security VCR recording setup
Bought the 6TB hard drive for the home security and its so worth it. This purple model is specifically made for recording 24/7 which is great and the size is also good, fits perfectly into my VCR recording system. Very well spent and such a great investment. Works perfect for it.

Noisy but reliable.
Performs well but it is noiser than smaller capacity drives. Seems like all the bigger drives are like that.

Set It and Forget It – Reliable for 24/7 Use
Been running 24/7 in my NVR system for months without a hiccup. No noise, no overheating, just reliable storage.✅ Pros: Designed for constant use, very quiet, big storage❌ Cons: Not for regular desktop use (slower read/write)💡 Tip: Use in surveillance systems only — it’s built for write-heavy workloads.

Quality as expected for WD drives.
These WD drives have never let me down. I upgraded from the WD 2TB drives in my RAID 5 array to these 4TB drives to give me more video storage space for my video surveillance system. No issues so far.
