The 28 Day Alcohol-Free Challenge: Sleep Better, Lose Weight, Boost Energy, Beat Anxiety

Warning – This could change your relationship with alcohol and could even change your life!
Loving this book and ethos that #OYNB brings with the #28dayafcThe book is fantastic, vibrant and jam packed of useful tips/tricks/hacks/information. It’s broken down into 5 easy to follow parts. Breaking down each stage for you and there’s even a “break glass in case of emergency” section with tips for any big social occasion. It has mocktail recipes, additional resources; a section on “beyond the finish line, what next” which is very interesting. This would be the perfect accompaniment to anyone considering #dryjanuary or just because. My personal story is that I wanted to change my relationship with alcohol. I’ve never managed to do any of these “dry” month challenges before, I only drank at weekends but it was every weekend; which left me feeling sluggish, making bad choices, low energy on Monday mornings and the list goes on. So at the age of 42 I decided to give it a go, I signed up to the 90 day challenge as my inner critic (I call her Mavis) was telling me I’d never get past 28 days. At the time of writing this I’m on day 61 and wow what a difference it’s made to me. I’ve not got the “fog” any more, sleep is so much deeper, social anxiety has reduced dramatically, I’ve got more energy, more money in my pocket. I’ve been sober raving, made better choices with a clear head. I smashed Christmas sober, the first EVER and it was fantastic; I was more present, engaged and remember all the conversations had with family, I was calm in stressful situations (when I’d ordinarily reach for a drink). To those who say it’s boring to be sober, I challenge you to try it. It will take time to change habits we’ve had for years, as society puts alcohol to the forefront of celebrations and special occasions. I’ve found so many alcohol free alternatives out there, and less calories; no sore head and losing weight. To be fair these are trial and error to find ones you like but worth it.Just try the #28dayafc, keep a journal of your journey and review it at the end; see how you feel.I may be on day 61 but have purchased this as my go to. To anyone considering going further with this challenge I cannot recommend the #OYNB paid group enough, I wouldn’t have got this far without out them. So many people on their own journey and own reasons, which altogether give so much insight and support. It is also worldwide, so no matter what time you go onto the social media page, there is always someone there with support. Why wait to January 1st to make the decision, start now! #getinvolved

Knowledge is power! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!!
Found out about these guys back in October but since receiving the book and working through it daily it has really helped! It’s clear, simple, non judgemental and very easy to read! It’s tempting to skip ahead but focussing on each day as it happens and rereading the excellent advice, tips and information (backed up by genuine research and findings) means that you are completely equipped to make your own decisions about alcohol rather than following the herd mentality. Whatever you decide after completing 28 days, to continue to drink or otherwise, you will have done it in the full knowledge and experience of a period of abstaining. To those of you who say it’ll be easy and those that think it’ll be hard take the challenge and then do what you will with the experience. Knowledge is power!!!!

Very Good idea - but not so easy
I liked this book and the enthusiastic approach of the authors. They major on the positives, which is admirable. I would have given it 5 stars, but I felt it was more geared to the younger - and possibly male - reader. As a female of more mature years, I could have done with more tips relevant to me. Particularly when I started to struggle with the challenge. However, I would still recommend to anyone wanting to cut down their drinking.

Something feels disconeccted
The book feels aimed at boomers who find goal setting the next step in life not people with low income, addiction or genuine trauma. This is an OK book for starting out but there's something disconnected about the approach they've taken. They've laid it out like a cheeky fun little diet change instead of something for people who need help, the whole book feels like a sales pitch for some reason. They've attempted to make psychology palatable for newbies but it's by no means groundbreaking. 1 book can't be years of bibliotherapy in one of course so I can't be too critical, they have done their research but nothing that can't be found in a ted talk. The case studies feel icky like they're not real people with real experiences, just token reviews the whole book came off as missing a persona. The layout & guidance of the book would be great for something like veganism, it's easy to follow but by no means a tool for addiction.

The best purchase of 2017
I pre-ordered this book as I had already decided that I needed to change in 2018 and reading a little snippit, I thought this was the book for me. I love the way it is written; the tips Andy and Ruari provide are simple but effective. For the first time in over 2 years I have become a changed woman - my friends and colleagues can't believe it. I have even got others to buy it and take up the challenge :-) I am not craving wine o'clock any more or even wine, so it just shows - it was a habit and an unhealthy one at that! Thanks Andy and Ruari.

Brilliant
This I believe will be the self help book of 2018. So many of us drink to much. The shared bottle of wine with dinner 4/5 days a week, the weekend drinks, birthdays ext ext. if like me your thinking about taking a break or stopping alcohol all together then this book is a must. The best help ever and yes you DO loose eight, you DO sleep better, you DO find your thinking clearer I could go on and on. I have done 90 days Alcohol Free. I still am amazed that I have managed it and my whole thinking on drinking has changed for good. If you do one thing this year for you but this book

This book is ex a toy what I needed.I find the print extremely small and get a headache reading it after 10 minutes or so. I have low vision and thought I ordered this in large print

If you do it, you will look and feel better.
The book was good. I followed along for 28 days. There were plenty of good ideas for quitting drinking, getting back to exercising and dealing with the drinkers in your life. The book and program is for people who want to stop drinking for good or a period of time. It is not a replacement for people with alcoholism and need professional help. That said, I’m on day 82, so I guess you could say it’s been successful. Fingers crossed!

A well intentioned ego trip.
There is some reasonable advice, but it's all entangled with NLP brainwashing nonsense (giving you limited options, then saying the choice is completely yours, for example). It's also puntuated by stomach churningingly sugary photos of the authors and their families having a ball whilst not drinking. It's not particularly well written, either.I think the authors' intentions are probably good, but I became increasingly frustrated with the smug style and their continued peculiar use of the verb to hack. I will finish dry January, but I will not finish this book.Of course, that doesn't mean it won't work for someone else.

MUST READ & DO!
Klare Empfehlung!

I did it!
This book provided enlightening information on what I was/am doing to my body by drinking alcohol. I had never looked at it as putting poison into my body. I will quit drinking entirely forever soon.
