Not razor sharp but a good overall knife
Great Knife, not really sharp out of the box. This is an awesome knife and really handy, but not razor sharp as advertised. I look forward to get this razor sharp and see how long it keeps its edge. Until then it’s a good design and well built.

Quality product, great design, lite weight.
Super sharp, well made as are all Cold Steel knives. Finger grooves make it easy to handle.

good blade
I love knives and am a fan of Cold Steel products even though many of their products are from China but this particular piece is from Taiwan. Is that better who knows? But this little blade is very good quality the handle has this really nice textured feel to it and good finger grooves. Not sure how someone with big hands will like it since it is quite small. The blade comes pretty sharp, the chain is decent, im 5'5 and the knife around my neck hangs to about my navel. I'd say buy it but remember this knife is only for opening boxes and last ditch self defense. Gave four stars only because the knife feels a tad bit heavy on my neck ( Im 160 lbs) but might be from the thin chain putting more pressure and digs into your skin.

It fits great in the hand with a very comfortable grippy handle
Little bigger than the average neck knife but is approximately the same size as an ESEE Izula which many people are familiar with. It fits great in the hand with a very comfortable grippy handle. retention of the sheet is great. The tanto grind is awesome and, like everything else I have ever purchased from Cold Steel, it comes crazy sharp right out of the box. This is a few bucks more than a CRKT Minimalist so if you are looking at a CRKT but want a little bigger knife for that price this is perfect for you. If you are looking at an Izula but want something more affordable this Is awesome , about the same size similar size sheath and way better priced. You can buy two of these for the Izula Price but this is Aus-8 Steel so the Izula has a slight advantage having 440C steel both are good but in My experience 440C has better edge retention. Its better but not twice as good, so for the price The MiniTac Tanto is a better deal in my opinion. If you are affraid the Aus 8 wont last the next 10 years.....then buy 2 these are very affordable! but I am sure this will last a long time. I have a Cold steel Finn Wolf in Aus 8 steel and it is super tough. They do better heat treatment on Aus 8 than others (I'm looking at you Ontario RAT 1 and RAT 2). The finwolf is Aus 8 and scandi grind wich is a very delicate edge and the Finn wolf is tough, so I think you can have confidence in this knife.

Amazing quality and engineering.
I brought this knife with me for a week long vacation to Dominican Republic. I used it to cut fish and coconuts and took it into the water with me at 11 beaches. It WILL oxidize in water. However after arriving home I used a bit of vinegar and a dish scrubbing pad and it looks almost as good as new. It's very easily concealable, very sharp, very egronomic. As for the grip being "too textured" according to some reviewers, I didn't find that to be the case at all. I found the texture to be perfect as it gave me excellent grip. The blade has managed to hold it's sharpness, even as I used it to dig in sand under-water that had shells and rocks. The steel isn't as "stainless" as I would hope, but it's a small trade-off considering the excellent durability of the blade.I really did abuse the knife quite a few times, and the blade didn't chip or dull. My only complaint is that the knife is hard to unsheathe, but I corrected this by leaving it sitting for a few datys with a coin tucked under the plastic where the finger notch is.I highly recommend this blade, as despite it's small handle, it's easy to maintain a strong grip, and I'd feel confident to rely on this knife in both combat and survival situations.

Exactly as pictured, great steel and reasonable price for an excellent brand
I wish it provided more ideas for where to mount the sheath.Great steel, good sheath, sharp, easy to sharpen and manage. I prefer this over the billy knife curved blades.

neck knife
also have the Double Agent which was going to be my go to neck knife but its just a little big for that, so i got this Mini Tac and it fits the neck knife perfect! very slicey with the tonto blade and razor sharp out of the box. going to be hard to find another neck knife that can compete and at this price range there is no other, period

Interesting little knife with a horrid case design
I want to break this knife down by a few different points.1st: Steel - Blade uses AUS 8A Steel. Overall this is a quality of steel that is about average or slightly better than average of other knives of this size/price range. It will hold an edge, it'll last, and can take a bit of a beating. Personally I don't overly care about corrosion resistance due to my habit of oiling my knife blades in 3in1 every now and again. Even without doing so this steel will hold up well for anywhere other than somewhere along a coast (AKA super salty.) Sharpness is adequate, however after 30min of using various sharpening stones, correct angles, and tender love and care I could not hone this blade to anywhere near the sharpness of any of my benchmades.2nd: Grip - Let's move on to ergonomics. My hands are a large in gloves, roughly average for most men. Don't expect this to be comfortable, this is a three finger blade at max and if you went to thrust or slash with it the pummel will dig sharply into your palm. However, for the size... the blade can fit as a full tang blade into a mens jeans pocket which is very impressive in and of itself. Huge +1 for that. So, win some loss some.3rd: Sheath - I could and want to rip this sheath apart for days. Horrid design, nothing about it works for a neck knife, nothing about it works for unsheathing, it's horrible for placing a grip on, and the case is massive. Plus, it doesn't come with an attachable belt clip which would have been more useful that the necklace that is twice as long as it needs to be that it comes with. Honestly, the sheath is comically bad.The product is an interesting idea that is executed oddly. It has the opportunity to be something fascinating and every time you think of a case for it it falls flat after two more thoughts. It's one of those that will collect dust after I finish the last week of my carry trial.
