Sounds amazing
Great sound and excellent quality! I was really impressed with the clarity and richness of the sound. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys listening to well-produced music, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. The overall build feels sturdy, and the tone is crisp and clear. The book that comes with it is a nice touch, adding a little extra to the experience. However, I would recommend having a basic understanding of sheet music to fully get the most out of it. It’s great for those who are familiar with reading music but might be a little tricky if you’re completely new. That said, I love having the book as a resource to challenge myself and explore new pieces. It’s a great way to expand my skills while enjoying beautiful music.Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s a solid investment for anyone looking to enhance their music collection, but just be aware that a little sheet music knowledge will make it even better!

Best value for beginners
This is a great starter drum. I bought it for my toddler as a kid friendly instrument, but I love it too! It’s magnetic, so you know it’s made of steel. The sound is good. Some keys sounded brassy at first but I found a fix for it. If the note is not flush with the rest of the drum it will sound off. If it’s sitting a bit low, meaning the key cutout is bent inwards, you can push it back out to be flush with the rest of the drum. I used a stick from the underside of the drum and gently hit the key upwards till it was flush again. This helped the note sound normal. Comes with a good amount of accessories, extra mallets, good size song book, case, finger mallets, and extra stickers. Over all a great starter drum.

This is nicer than I ever expected!
It looks exactly as shown in the Amazon photos. It’s really well made right down the macrame strip around it. It comes with a good quality zippered carrying bag too. The tone sounds nice and it appears to be correctly tuned. Comes with a little book with some well-known songs corresponding to the stuck on numbers on the drum top. The stick on numbers are a little disappointing as I thought they’d be somehow carved into the drum top. But that’s ok. It’s just so beautiful and soothing I can’t say enough about it. I’ll enjoy this for many years to come.

Lovely Instrument
Beautiful drum with lovely soothing tones. I bought one of these for my dad for christmas and ended up needing one myself. Very fun and easy to play, picking up on songs is simple. Plus, it makes for a nice decoration around the house!

Lovely tone, needs tuning.
I would hesitate to say that this is a "beginners" instrument. Without the stickers on the tongues, you'll get a headache trying to figure it out. Maybe its a traditional (meaning Afro/Caribbean) arrangement of notes? Some of the tongues, specifically High 2 and High 7 do not resonate and you have to strike them hard to get any quality of sound. It's not all bad and I am keeping it because the tone is beautiful. The resonance is outstanding but there are some caveats. So here is a list of PROS and CONS:PROS: Absolutely beautiful. I have the green drum with brown rope around it. beautiful painted finish.Lovely tone from most of the tongues. Highest notes are dull.Great resonance and echo. It can be adjusted to dampen the echo, but ...um why?Book, finger-mallets, rubber standard mallets (A little too short IMO) all seem fine.Very nice soft, zippered case.Gratifying to play.Sits well in lap or on the three feet on the bottom.CONS: My first order was missing the mallets and I sent it back. No prob. Two of the highest frequency tongues (#2 and #7) are dull and do not resonate well. I have to strike them much harder. Not intuitive -- stiff learning curve if you want to play a tune. (The tunes in the book have many mistakes, but it made me laugh and helped me learn.)It's way out of tune. I have learned that tuning is possible with a fair degree of accuracy by placing small magnets on the tongues. I will try to tune it to DMaj scale as that is the closest.Stickers on tongues are unattractive, but they are quite adherent... I dont know why they could not paint the numbers on the tongues. If I can remove the stickers without damage, I will paint the numbers & corresponding notes on by myself when it's tuned. My overall impression is that it is fun to play around on. I really enjoy the tone and echo. Fun, but not easy to learn the sequence of notes. I am a lifelong musician, so perhaps I am being too critical. In all honesty, you get what you pay for and I think this is spot-on for the money. It's a good starting point for a beginner to an avocational musician. Im satisfied.

Very cool and sounds great. I may even buy a bigger one. Well done and recommend this for beginners just to see how they sound.

It's beautiful, but I did not get the mallets.
It's a beautiful instrument, and sounds warm and soft. But I did not get the mallets. How do I get them??? They were not in the package. Edit... I found them! I love it!!
