Another "wabi sabi" design book curated by Westerners. . .
This is a gorgeous book to look through. As someone Chinese, I am curious about the latest spate of books written/photographed by Westerners which evoke beautiful images of worn and broken things that are supposed to embody the Asian concept of "wabi-sabi." The thing is, "wabi-sabi," as I understand it - is supposed to represent FOUND things that are broken and beautiful, not CURATED things in scenarios of bohemian artists. Don't get me wrong, the looks and collectors in this book are worth imitating - but curating is the opposite of "wabi sabi."

A Kintsugi Bowl of Miso Soup for the Soul
Wow. A really lovely book! The pages are literally thick and heavy, the photos are gorgeous, the printing is heavenly. Oh, and the content... I was expecting something more about interior design/decor/shelter ideas, while it's actually more a look into a number of inspiring artists deeply interested in the power of shadows, cracks, elegantly aged materials, and (above all) patina. If you have a weakness for wabi sabi and get the warm fuzzies out of praising shadows and patination (as I most certainly do), this beautiful book deserves a place on your bookshelf and in your heart.

Great for Artists
The content of this book is slightly different than I expected. It's more a compilation of work of various artists than about wabi sabi. The beautiful cover is a work of art itself! I believe it would be an inspiration for artists who are working in this type of 'imperfect' art.

This is a rip off book, it does not include anything about the art of wabi-sabi.
It is just a long book that is advertising various 'artists' and links to their sales premises and web sites etc, read it in an hour total waste of money. Buy an authentic one. I rate this book no stars at all and would like a full refund to my Amazon account.
