It's alright for small spots, then the wadding for the rest of the item. You've got to then give things a quick polish after to make it shine, but honestly, I used this stuff just because I bought it. Not a basket either, so it's a pain to get jewellery out, unless you put a thread to dangle it from. I haven't really noticed a smell, unless you get right up close. Overall, it's okay, but the wadding is much better.

This stuff is amazing. You can almost see the tarnish dissolving. There is no basket. I had to improvise with an icecube tray to clean my earrings.

I expected an inside basket but there wasn't one, so you need something to hold your jewelry when you dip. The jar is designed mostly for silverware. It does clean nicely.
