The Cat in the Hat and Other Dr. Seuss Favorites

Although I didn't know what to expect when I bought this Edmondson Seuss tape (and the Mayall Seuss tape too), I tremendously enjoyed the production of both tapes. Both tapes have an impeccable selection of stories, and are impeccably read with character, relish and timing. This Edmondson tape offers both Cat in the Hat stories, together with Fox in Socks and Green Eggs and Ham. This is a superb selection with Edmondson offering an engaging and lively reading throughout. He relishes Seuss's rhymes and use of words, and characterises the various parts wonderfully. My minor gripe is that he could have made Knox sound more emotional and perturbed, but other than that this tape is beautifully produced, replete with hilarious sound effects and atmospheric music. Highly recommended, along with the other equally excellent Seuss tape read by Rik Mayall.

Fab. It took me back years

To put it simply this is a tape of 4 of my favourite Dr Suess books and my daughter (currently aged 3) also loves them. The narration is perfect and the vocals add to the stories immensely. Stick it on in the car/at home/anywhere and the kids will be quiet, you can also sneakily listen along yourself and pretend that you put it on for the kids (my favourite excuse).

I, and my 2 year old son, are great lovers of Dr Seuss' wacky 'stories'. My son regularly listens to another audio of Seuss' best work (read by Aid' Edmunson) but I found this version woefully inadequate and my son is nowhere near as interested in it as the other version we own. The choice of 'serious', sleepy sounding, deep voiced men of a certain age reading these fun and rhythmical stories just doesn't convey the humour and engage interest. There are also no sound effects or music to accompany it. I know if my son had the language he would say the same. However, the brillance of the illiteration shines through and it does contain a few less 'well known' stories (if that's possible!)

Ideal como audio para complemento a sus libros. A los peques les resulta aún más atractiva la lectura con los efectos sonoros. La única pega es que diría que al seguir los libros, en páginas donde hay poca letra,va un pelín rápido para mi gusto.

Ho acquistato questo libro per mio figlio. L'ho scelto con Cd allegato per esercizio all'ascolto e per la pronuncia dei vocaboli. E' molto semplice. Lo consiglio a chi è alle prime armi con la lingua inglese.
