Formed in 2005, the guitarless London trio make sun-kissed Sunday afternoon strolling music. While not exactly groundbreaking, their self-titled debut album tumbles and skips along happily enough; inoffensive, if not exactly life-affirming.For happy-go-lucky couples it's the perfect 'relationship' soundtrack; there are plenty of tracks here that would make ideal 'our song' choices. Take 'The Airplane Song'; with its oh-so philosophical leanings and references to the airport - that eternal symbol of loss, love and patched-up break ups - it's a definite 'here's a compilation I made to celebrate our love' song.There's a lot here too for emotionally-fraught teenage girls. On "It's Not About You" frontman Roy Stride sings: 'Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad' as he weighs up the deeper things in life with all the conviction of a wet tea towel. Beach Boys pastiche vocals creep in as heartbeat-skipping power chords loop round and round. It's cringe-worthy to all but lovers of the most sugary pop.SFG steer clear of any real heartbreak; references to anything remotely resembling pain are coated with bright pick-yourself-up melodies and upbeat riffs. "I'm Not Over You" is a classic example; the lines 'She said it was over...I'm not over you and I know that I never will' cue a bouncy piano-laden chorus to make it all better.For the under-tens, "She's So Lovely" has a nice, sweet melody and not a hint of anything lyrically controversial, perfect at a kids' birthday parties where jumping up and down constitutes dancing.This is music for an all-inclusive club. It's no coincidence the band's fanclub is called The Wolfclub (members are known as 'wolfcubs' and there's even a secret code). Stride's vocal is a combination of Joel Pott from Athlete and, as has been noted several times, Eels frontman Mr E (who, it must be said, did the whole emotional thing rather more convincingly.But perhaps a little slack needs to be cut. While SFG's life musings are not the stuff of music epics, their pop market appeal should not be so hastily dismissed; "Elvis Isn't Dead", for one is a damn fine pop song. The album is not aimed at music connoisseurs but lovelorn adolescents. Bought as all my Scouting for Girls CDs had disappeared - probably borrowed and never returned, that happens with great music, so replaces and so happy I did. Amazing songs, great to lift your mood - even the ones about breaking up have a jaunty tune. Hugely talented band that I never tire of hearing. Give it a try, sure you will love it.

Weiter: Das Debüt- Album unter dem Titel" Scouting for girls " wurde am 17.9. 2007 veröffentlicht, erreichte doppelten Gold- Status undstand am 20.1.2008 erstmals an der Spitze der britischen Album- Charts. Und..........dieses Debüt konnte sich insgesamt Achtundsiebzig Wochen in der Hitliste halten. Alle Achtung!Awesome!!Und nun? Ich liebe die lieblich gestrickten Popsongs mit ihren augenzwinkernden Textenüber die Liebe. So isses.

En perfecto estado
Bueno, la verdad es que el Disco está bastante bien. Música variada con diferentes tonos entre melancólico y entretenido. La historia del Cd fue demasiado: al parecer el cartero es disléxico porque en lugar de dejarme el paquete en mi casa lo dejó en casa cuyo número es el mismo que el mío pero al revés... si, mi casa es la número 24 y el cartero lo dejó en la número 42. El caso es que pasaban los días y mi paquete no llegaba y justo hoy llegó la señora que vive en el 42... al parecer se lo dejó en el escritorio de su hijo pensando que le había llegado a él. Por suerte me llevo bien con el chaval y a los 8 días al mirar el nombre del destinatario (sí, tardó en mirarlo 8 días)y ver que era yo decidió devolvérmelo.En fin, la madre vino roja a devolvérmelo. ¡El cd está muy bien! lo recomiendo al 100%

Die Jungs von Scouting for Girls haben es einfach drauf!Am Anfang war ich mir etwas unschlüssig und musste zugegebenermaßen feststellen, dass alle Lieder ein ähnliches Muster verfolgten. Trotzdem habe ich mich in diese unglaublich symphatische Band verliebt.Der britische Akzent lässt die Jungs absolut natürlich wirken und verleiht allen Liedern einen liebenswerten Charme.Die ganze Platte verbreitet gute Laune, auch wenn der Inhalt des Textes nicht immer so fröhlch ist. Thematisch siedelt sich die CD im Liebesbereich an, ohne dabei aber unglaublich getragene und schwerfällige Musik hervorzubringen. Alles wirkt leicht und beschwingt.Es macht einfach Spaß.Besonders zu empfehlen sind: "I wish I was James Bond", "Mountains of Navaho" und "Heartbeat".

GREAT UK band...
Love this band from the UK. I hate that I can't download this album on iTunes, but I'll get it in my library one way or another. ... I wish I was James Bond, Just for the day.... :-) It's happy music!

Fun and Simple, That's the Beauty of It
This isn't for self proclaimed music intellectuals as you can guess from the other reviews. But if you sometimes like music that is simply fun, with quirky lyrics that make you smile, then this is perfect for those moments. This music is all upbeat. A great CD for a road trip with friends.

Love Scouting for Girls
This CD is just clean music that is fun to listen to. You can actually sing along, easy lyrics...and understandable at that (Hard to find in this day and age). Yuppers. Had to order from UK because they don't have it here in america.
