The Extra Mile: Delicious Alternatives to Motorway Services

We like to go off the beaten track and looked forward to using this book. Unfortunately it doesn't cover north of the border so our frequent trips to Scotland to see family remain a lottery!

What a great publication this is, I also have the first edition so with the help of these two great books I have found some fantastic places to eat just minutes off the motorway, if you like decent food and tea/coffee cakes etc and don't mind a few minutes detour from your route then this is a must have.

Handy little book, especially for cake-eaters of England & Wales! Garden Centres and off-the-beaten track (otherwise known as motorways) cafes and pubs where delicious food is available at reasonable prices. A must for travellers!

bought for a birthday present . had a quick look before sending it off, found it enlighting about some places i know already. but still worth the price. It might keep the passenger quiet while the driver is looking for somewhere to stop . plus the chance of a discount is also worth thinking about.

We do a lot of driving around the country and on our last trip we organised our breaks using this book. We found ourselves in a wonderful little village only a few miles from the M1. Unfortunately the cafe we choose turned out to be a really nice shop. Luckily there were lots of other cafes and we had an amazing late lunch enjoying lots of local produce and returned to the initial shop to stock up on fresh bread etc

Best book I will buy this year, get one and stop eating overpriced food, served by underpaid staff at service stations... Bye bye cold coffee and stale plastic sandwiches, hello food made with love and served with a smile.

Expected a lot more info and better regional coverage.

If you like to off the track to get a decent coffee & cake, this is the book for you. Terrific selection of quality venues with lovely illustrations
