This scale surprised me. I expected it to be inaccurate, but, once it's calibrated, it's spot on. I weighed several items of varied weight ranging from 5 to 35 pounds, and the scale matched a digital scale I have. Also, weighing so many different weight items didn't change the calibration,I have one pet peeve: the bottom rests on 3 "bumps" on the bottom instead of one in each corner. As a result, it can wobble. That's a poor design.

I really like the "Tada 44 LBS Stainless Steel Mechanical Kitchen Scale Heavy Duty Portion-Control Food Scale" as it handles large items such as packages of meat, bags of grapes, apples, bundles of onions etc perfectly without falling off. With my little scales I was forever trying to cram or stack everything 'just so' so I could weigh it. The face of the scale is easy to read so even if you have poor eyesight or are working without your glasses you can see the numbers. It's a sturdy and stable unit for home use. I don't know that I would actually call it for 'portion control' unless you eat huge portions so I will continue to use my small scale for ounces, but this is terrific for doing large amounts. I do a lot of food prep and make food products in bulk for later use so this is going to be a big time saver for me. Love that I can load up the tray with all kinds of hot peppers to get to the desired poundage and not have to keep weighing small portions and add them together to find the amount I need.When mine arrived all I had to do was pull out some round cardboard pieces that are used to stabilize the top piece (don't try to cut them out ... they are not 'around' anything. Just pull.), pull off the protective film from the stainless steel plate, and screw on with the included screws & nuts (they are in a little baggie inside the bag the scale is in so one could easily miss seeing them), and then slightly adjust the calibration with the turn of a knob. Everything I've weighed was as it was supposed to be (although I did not micro weigh).I also wanted to note that the instruction manual (paper) that came with the unit states, "This scale is intended for personal use only". This listing obviously mentions deli's, restaurants, stores etc. I do NOT think it would hold up for commercial use for a long time. Personal, home use? Absolutely. There may be mixed reviews based on this alone.

Great kitchen scale. It is nice to have the extra space on top compared to many other scales I have tried. The top plate is easy to clean and remove by wingnut. Another thing I like is that the measurement is large and really easy to read.

This is a good kitchen scale. It's large and weighs IP to 44lbs. It is accurate though and weighs small items just as well. It looks nice and the parts are well made. The metal is easy to wipe down and keep clean.
