My son watches us cook in the kitchen and always wants to help. He's 4, so we're not going to give him real knives, but we don't want him to be left out either. We got these and they work great for him. He is careful with them, like he would be with a real knife, but they are harmless to him. I did the test myself where I took each blade and sawed on my arm and it never broke the skin, yet it still cuts through items like fruits and vegetables, I haven't tested it with meats.

Very cool product. Step up for our kiddo from the plastic set. Cut nicely but are still safe.

My kids like these knives. They are good for practice

These are wonderful knives for any aspiring young chefs. They are sturdy and well-made, and easily cut through carrots, melons, fruits, bread, and a variety of other foods, while being safe for fingers and skin. The ends are nicely curved, and if I dragged the knife over my hand, it does not cut or hurt. In fact, it would be quite difficult to cut skin with these knives. My young chef (7 years old) absolutely loves them and uses them all the time. His older brother also likes to use them.

I don’t normally write reviews, but had to for this one. These knives are incredible! My son who is 11 keeps cutting himself with a regular knives and has an interest in cooking. We got him these, he loves them because they look like adult knives with the wood on the end, And they cut well, but don’t cut him.

Very safe and still pretty functional

The packaging for the knives was great, they came in a hard cardboard with cut out of each knife. On the flap were recommendations for what the knife is good to use on. Def great for first timers to figure out the basics with knives. Handle is solid and comfortable grip. Nothing was cheaply made. It amazes me that the blades are sharp enough to cut food but not hands or fingers. I even tried. My son who is 7 enjoyed cutting carrots, a banana and his jello. Highly highly recommend for any first timers!

Expensive but work as intended. My daughter is always excited to help me with salads and I don’t need to worry about her fingers. She can cut bell peppers and even carrots with these knives.

Our girls are all under 9, but eager to help out in the kitchen during meal prep. These knives give me the peace of mind that they are not going to injure themselves in the process. Wash by hand so that the wood holds up.

My 4 year old loves baking and helping in the kitchen. The issue is that as a professional knifemaker, all our knives are dangerously sharp, aside from butter knives, and a kid can’t cut vegetables with those. These little knives fit his hands well, and the blade is thin enough he can cut fruit, sausage, bread, vegetables etc pretty well without having to use a ton of force. These knives cut due to thin blade geometry and the bumpy “serrated” edge, and not because of a sharp edge. I actually wanted to test the safety, so I took one out of the box and sawed it on my hand progressively harder and harder. At the point where I was putting on a lot more pressure than a child could, they still would not cut my skin. Nice safe knives to let kids help in the kitchen without the risk of getting hurt. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because the finger guard is basically useless and nearly too large for an adult hand, so doesn’t seem to work at all for kids.

These work great. They do not cut skin but are great for cutting! A little tough for hard items (carrots, etc) but still work. My son is more interested in preparing his own meals now that he has his own knives. Only downside is that they are not recommended for dishwasher. Great purchase.
