Art Nouveau Antique Brass Finger Plate

After unsuccessfully searching for an original finger plate, I ordered this one. Im really pleased with it, its perfectly aged to look original,and looks great on the door. I did need to buy brass screws. The included black ones are a bit naff.

Liked that the plates were thick enough to look substantial on the doors, and the plates appeared to be of good quality once fitted. Had started off with five plates for a hallway, and was so pleased with the effect that in the end ordered eight for every door of the hallway and an experiment with embellishing the stair post too (see photos). Don't agree with another review that the design appears two-dimensional. On the contrary, they are very touchable.Did not like that the screws supplied were countersink screws, but the pre-drilled holes in the plates were large enough only to take the shaft. So, every screw sits well proud. If the colour/ material match of the screws weren't so good, the screws would look awful like this but they actually blend in to the plate well. May replace all 48 screws over the 8 plates with domed-head ones, as I'm concerned it might just catch someone's clothing/ hand. We'll see. The screws supplied had a good slot but the material was soft enough that it was easy to scratch if the screwdriver lost the slot, so recommend first drilling pilot holes for every single screw with a small drill bit, then using exactly the right sized screwdriver (and a manual one) with solid but thin blade, and maintaining constant pressure whilst screwing. Also, handle one screw at a time - they are tiny and could easily fall beneath floorboards. I found a dark brown wax crayon (the type used to repair scratches on wood) were good to cover the shiny surface on the screws were there had been any screwdriver slip.Recommend that on a door where the plates are installed on the side that swings in, an even border on each side. On the other hand I had to refit my first plate on a door that swung away from the plate side to account for the door frame when the door is closed. It just looked too close to the frame without the adjustment. The photos show the difference between inward-swinging and outward-swinging doors.It was disappointing after having ordered eight plates over three orders to realise that the company were selling exactly the same plate more than 20% cheaper on their own website, rather than Amazon - even accounting for different delivery charges. That always stings and leaves an unnecessarily sour taste to what otherwise I'd heartily recommend.

A little disappointed to be honest. It looks more like a print of an art nouveau pattern on a thin brass plate. Too expensive for what it is, but I will keep it

Lovely finger plates. Very stylish. The only negative being the screws provided weren't great. I bought some dome headed brass screws and they looked fab.

Looks the part. I think it looks even better now it has been polished a couple of times. Metal is very thin and sharp though, so be careful when fixing.

I am using this product to protect soiling and wear on my Mahogany kitchen door, good colour blend too.

Very poor quality. This feels like plastic with a thin brass plating, and the colour of ours was noticeably darker than the picture, it looked grimy. We asked to have return postage refunded as this was not as advertised, needless to say, they did not. So much for 'no quibble returns'.

I adore this ‘Art Nouveau-style’ finger plate. It looks wonderful on my new, artificially aged, stained pine door. I truly couldn’t be more pleased. It doesn’t come with screws though, (6 tiny screws needed), so you’d need to get your own. In my opinion, brass screws look aweful, so I’ve used matt black ones, (as they blend into the background, otherwise they stand out).
