I get what folks are saying about this product not being as green as it possibly could be, but as an environmentalist and an avid flosser I have to give this product big props for being a drastic reduction in waste. To be able to drop down from the hard shell floss dispenser packages to this is a huge improvement. I can finally stop stressing over looking for unique reuse options for the blasted floss dispensers. Best of all this product does an excellent job at cleaning between my teeth., better than anything else I have tried. My teeth are a mixture of spacing some crowded and a few not. I have not had any breakage issues thus far and I must say that if you do have a wider space between two teeth this floss actually still has the ability to grab what you are trying clean out from the area and typically this has been a really troublesome spot to floss clean. I also have not had issues with the floss falling back into the canister but I keep it on my dresser so the lack of transportation probably helps in that regard. I did order one to keep in my glove box and I plan to just put a wide rubber band on it to hold the cut end tight to the canister so I don't struggle with that issue. I hope they figure out the packaging for even further reductions in plastic. Perhaps a parchment envelop for the refills?

I bought this dental lace to replace plastic packaging and dental floss waste, since I can reuse the bottle, buy refills, and compost the floss. I also loved that the company was making sustainable efforts. The box and cellophane the refills come in is compostable! Woop, woop! Then I tried the stuff–I will NOT be switching back to regular dental floss. This is so much better. I've been using it for about 1-2 weeks now every night. It gets between my teeth easily and snag free (even between the tight ones). It hasn't gotten stuck yet. It doesn't pull apart into a bunch of little strands like the plastic stuff does if I have used the same section too much when flossing. And lastly, it doesn't slip off my fingers if it gets wet. It stays put. I read a lot of comments that the floss kept falling back into the container once cut off. I have had ZERO problems with that. The little metal cutter thing catches it and keeps it every time. Love this stuff. One of the zero waste switches that I will not be going back on or looking for another alternative.

This product takes a little bit of time to get use to. It works well once you figure out how much tension to put on the floss while between teeth.The problem is that the spools are too short for the glass bottle container. The floss often slips out of the hole at the top of the container. I bent the cutting tool on the lid, so it held the floss easier. But the spool keeps pulling the floss out of the lid hole.I like the feel of the floss, it is smooth and gets the job done. If they could figure out the feeding of the floss through the lid, I would give this 5 stars!!!

UPDATE: I went to the dentist yesterday after using this floss for a few months. She asked if I had stopped flossing because I had buildup on my gum line and my gums were inflamed. She said this floss is too thick and it doesn’t reach under the gums as well to clean them. That’s all I needed to hear, I’m done with this floss and going back to my regular stuff. Leaving two stars because the idea of compostable, zero waste floss is cool, but not at the risk of my oral health.I am addicted to flossing. I floss every single day, with few exceptions. Over the years I have tried many different kinds of floss, and this one is hands down my favorite. It’s thick and textured enough to clean between my teeth better than regular floss, but it’s waxed and can glide through the tighter spaces with zero problems. It doesn’t shred, it doesn’t break, it cleans better than other floss, and it can go straight into the compost bin when I’m done. I love this floss.The only drawback is that I go through floss pretty quickly, and you get a lot less floss for a lot more money with this stuff. However, both this product and the refills are cheaper on the manufacturer’s website than they are on Amazon. I will be ordering refills directly from Dental Lace. I think it’s worth the extra cost for an effective, zero-waste product.

I was very excited to discover this product because I am trying to cut back on my plastic usage. I love the glass refillable container, it’s very pretty and easy to refill. The first two spools of floss I used were good. I was able to use them to floss my very tightly crowded teeth, which is impressive because a lot of brands don’t fit. However I am on my third spool now and not only does it break, repeatedly, but if I can get it between my teeth it remains there and I have to use more floss to get it out. I thought I had discovered my new favorite floss and am very disappointed. I have a fourth spool that I’ll try and I hope it’ll be as good as the first two, but am concerned about the lack of consistency and am not yet sure if I will continue to purchase this product.

I purchased this several months ago because I was tired of repeatedly throwing away the plastic boxes that my usual floss came in. I loved this small, very attractive glass container. The floss was fine. It says it's mint, but I didn't notice any particular flavor. I finished the first spool of floss and replaced it with the refill without a problem. And then, a few days later it fell on the tile bathroom floor and broke. Small shards of glass scattered across the floor. I'm pretty sure I haven't found them all. I guess it will still work although it's broken with some duct tape. 😢 To the manufacturer: Maybe a metal container would be a better idea.UPDATE: I used electric tape to hold the pieces together and protect it from more falls. I should have done this from the beginning, I guess. Like the Otterbox on my iPhone.
