Extend your cooktop space
I bought two of the large mats to use not for dishwashing but for heat mats to extend my cooktop surface. These can withstand temperatures upward of 450 degrees and placed on either side of my stove have increased the area where I can put pans that are hot by almost twice as much. Pans cooking can be placed to the side on a mat and then returned to the stove as part of my cooking so that food is just hot enough and not over or under cooked. Being able to put cookie sheets to the side as they come out of the oven and still have my entire stove top free is just one of the many bonuses of mat use. Consider these industrial looking mats for extending your cook top. Not only do they give so much more working room, but they also look very professional.Love the way customer service emails that “Mat” is on his way – so creatively cute. Try these mats – you will be so glad you did with the new freedom of space they provide.

absolutely worthless for drying dishes...
works great as a huge hot plate - but next to worthless for drying most dishes as they aren't raised up enough off the mat for any air-flow to get underneath them to evaporate the water... and there is nowhere for the water that has dripped down to go - so it just stays on the mat right under the dishes... place a bowl, cup, jar, pot, or plate upside down on the mat and three days later it's still wet underneath... fortunately i had not yet taken my old trusty dish-drainer with mat under it that drains into the sink to the local thrift-store... my sister is a chef who enjoys coming over and cooking exotic nine-course meals for me - she took one look at it on the counter and said "What is THAT thing supposed to do? It's in my way".

Game changer!!!
This product has completely changed the dishwashing game for me. No more huge drying rack. No more wet stinky mats. Does not hold mineral deposits. Super easy to keep clean. Everyone that comes to my house ends up wanting to buy one. I wash all my dishes as the day goes so this is perfect for me. Keeps dishes just enough up off the surface so they are not sitting in water. When I’m not using it I actually store it in the dishwasher! Top quality silicone. Excellent buy!!

Traps moisture where you are trying to keep it from going, causing mildew and staining
I really wanted this to work. I keep my dish rack on the draining board that it came with, but I was irritated that little drips would still get on my counter. For years I used one of those dish drying mats underneath and it did quite well, but I would still see little clouds of moisture trapped under the board which is not good for my mid-century countertops. When I saw this I thought it would be an upgrade. Upon arrival I was disappointed that the white mat I got had crumbs of dirt all over and black smudges that had to be scrubbed off. It didn’t appear to be used, but definitely poorly stored/handled before it got to me. It was also a lot thinner and flimsier than I expected - I’m very surprised to hear that it could provide any kind of heat protection. (I’ve gotten silicone trivets from the Xmas Tree Shops for a buck or two that were much higher quality.) So I run my dish rack through the dishwasher regularly to keep it clean (think about it, it sits on your countertop collecting dust, getting breathed and sneezed on just like anything else, and then you put your clean, wet dishes on it...) and when I just did this morning I was very upset to find that while this may have appeared to be catching my drips, it was also trapping a layer of moisture under the mat which grew mildew and stained my white countertop (original from 1964, and was still in excellent shape!) yellow. I’m so disappointed that by trying to fix a slightly annoying problem this thing instead created what appears to be permanent damage to my countertop. I’ve tried baking soda, soft scrub, even barkeepers friend didn’t work- if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.

Great mat!!
Works with very well. Stores the water they say it will since I filled a measuring cup & poured on there & it held. Just FYIs: The only 2 knocks I have are that 1. water gets underneath somehow. This may be user error as I may be splashing water on the counter before there is any weight on the mat. None is under the side away from the sink. 2. It has whitish markings on it after first use. But again we have bad water here and require an entire house filtration system so it may be markings from all of the minerals. Our water isn't drinkable without the filtration. It's easy to wash. It does what its supposed to do. The dishes dry well on it. I gave it 5 stars because it does what its supposed to do, feels well made and the only knocks on it aren't the company's fault.

So many uses!
I have three of these in my kitchen. I put one under the coffee pot. When people in our house make coffee it doesn't leave a big mess on the counter that you can see, so even if you don't get to it for a week, no one really see's the coffee drips, or grounds etc. Also, I use one over the flat top stove when not in use. Our flat top is new but somehow still got scratched up pretty quickly. Not only does it cover that nicely but I can wash dishes and put them on it to dry therefore giving my cook top a dual purpose. And lastly I have one on the right side of the kitchen sink for various purposes but mostly drying dishes. You can also put hot pans, cookie sheets etc on these and they're fine. I bought a different brand of these in gray but they have their company logo on them and I don't like that. It looks tacky on my new counter tops. So I love these more.

Great size, Performs well - but takes a little work.
Love the size. We live in town and have city water, and we even still installed a water purification/filtration system on top of city water, and there is still 'mineral' residue that collects on this mat. Also, you have to pick it up and dry under it as water always finds a way of getting under it. So, it is a nice size for those who hand wash and/or have a larger family, but it is more work to maintain the mat. The little green scrubber they package with the mat does a great job cleaning it up. So, it's not hard to clean it - it's just another thing to clean. I had a smaller drainer that sat in the other side of my sink - so possibly this is the situation with all dish mats. It's certainly better than those that soak up water and then mildew!! I recommend this mat.

Stylish and hygienic
Bought this to replace a microfibre dish drying mat that was getting a bit tired. Have been using this new silicone mat now for a month and really happy with it. The dishes dry much better as the ridges are quite raised so the pots are not sitting on damp fabric trapping the moisture inside. Easy to drain the excess water afterwards and easy to clean with the included silicone scrubby. Wish I'd purchased this sooner!

Size matters
I bought this because it's a decent size. Most I looked at were stylish and probably did the job. But the very nice one I got from John Lewis is so small that once you have washed up a saucepan or two....that's it....no more room. This XXL mat is great because I can stack loads of pans, bowls and chopping boards without a problem. If I was fussy, it would be nice to have a draining lip at one end. But I was happy to forego this in favour of a bigger mat.
