As a teen I was introduced to the wonderful world of Callard and Bowsers licorice toffees (and their butterscotch toffees as well). They were creamy and delicious and different from any other licorice I'd ever had. They were ever so addicting. In the 90s the company was sold and sadly in the aughts their flagship licorice toffee (as well as the butterscotch) was phased out. I'd like to meet the execs who thought that was a good idea. So my search was on for a licorice toffee that could satisfy the Callard and Bowser itch. I tried so many and was about to give up when I read someone's review here on Amazon about these walker's confections. That reviewer too had been searching for a replacement for their beloved Callards and they believed these came close. and.they.do!!! These are magnificent, craveable and addicting. I don't have and Callard and Bowsers to compare them to straight up but I can nevertheless say that my search is over. It has been a few years now since I purchased my first jar and I have yet to be disappointed. Creamy, mellow and with a perfect balance of licorice. Not too chewy. Not too hard. I've now turned so many people onto these. Even folks who claim not to live licorice seem to like these flavorful little pillows of goodness :) BOTTOM LINE: if you like mellow licorice these strike the perfect balance of flavor and texture. They're not too sweet and not salty. Callard and Bowsers if you're out there somewhere I DO miss you and your perfect little box of licorice treasures. But these Walker's make me miss you a lot less.

I purchased two of these containers of licorice toffee. One of them had been opened! The other was still sealed. I contacted Amazon customer service and use the chat option to explain what had happened. I was able to get a refund for one of the containers, which is very fair, and the only right thing to do considering that it’s food, and food should not arrive already opened. As for the licorice, I’m convinced it is the best licorice toffee that I have found in years. I’ll have to have my husband hide it and dole out five pieces a day, otherwise I’ll eat the whole thing at once and end up in the ER, ha ha. It is THAT good.

I have to admit I'm a dedicated customer. These are wonderful, take time to soften in the mouth, once they soften they bring a party all of their own, I lose track of importance with these candies, very addicting. I don't think it's such a bright idea for me to be around these candies at 54. Nice texture very smooth rich carmal licorice flavor. Not lacking in goodness

I eat gluten-free diet. Most licorice candy in USA has wheat flour in it. This licorice toffee has no flour and the licorice flavor is robust. My favorite licorice candy, by far.

After Callard & Bowser licorice toffees became unavailable, I was devastated. Then I discovered these, and they are every bit as good. These are also from England. Just remember to avoid chomping and trying to chew, if you have fillings or crowns. Give it a minute to warm up and then savor it slowly.

Perfect black licorice taste with a wonderful toffee chew. Be careful with old crowned teeth though. There’s enough stickiness to a piece of this delicious candy to pull a crown. Be careful.

You can’t go wrong with the iconic, sumptuously delicious Walkers licorice toffees! I am through one-third of the jar and adore each candy!!! These put the luxury into life, a truly fine gourmet experience and I look forward to buying more Walkers toffees so that I have a whole collection! I bought a bag of the mixed toffees and can’t decide which flavour I like best, they are all a fantastic treat! Do yourself a favour and splurge for these fine English treats, they are worth every penny!!!! Sitting right now in front of a roaring, cozy fire, sucking on one of these creamy, sweet and delicious toffees on a cold, wintry day… Aahhhhh…. Pure bliss!
