My granddaughter is an average sized 4 year old and I bought her the 6-7 because as a one piece garment I was afraid the 4-5 would be too short in the crotch and she'd only get to wear them a short time before she out grew them. These are large on her but because the ankles and wrists have banded ends she can wear these even those they're too large.
