Q: is it safe for knife blades

We have had ours for 6+ months. While fine with cheap knives, the nice Shun and other high end knives I bought for Christmas are all ruined at the tips, they are folded and bent. The design of this block is bad for fine edged cutlery. They need to round off or put a point in the rods so you are not using the very fine and pointed knife tips to impact and separate the rods.So my professional opinion, it is horrible for a fine edge and tip.

Q: How many knives does it hold?

Its obviously going to depend on how big the knives are. The face of the block is 4.75" square. Our block currently has a mix of 12 different sized knives and we have room for more

Q: Does this have a tendency to tip since it's on a slant?

It is stable. I haven't had it tip once.

Q: Can you buy a replacement rod block?

You cannot buy replacement rods.
