Loved the product. Learned a few lessons in the process and I’m sharing it for all my DIY lovers. Tips: 1) Faster this product drys the less it will crackle if at all. Avoid direct sunlight and heat. Best used indoors or garage. If you spray it outside move it inside quickly and I mean quickly! Allowing it to dry at its own speed is key! 2) Blowing on it will with medium pressure will amplify and encourage the crackle effect! Don’t blow too hard or you’ll damage the crackle & move the paint like a tear. The video shows everything. I hope it helps. How Too! Brands I used: Krylon and Rust -Oleum 1) Spray Base color. Get full color coverage. Let fully Dry! 2) Be quick with this step! Have your crackle paint can nicely shaken, spray a little from can to get paint going… have it close by and ready to grab! Spray base color again. Cover project nicely and with amply product. Make sure it’s wet. No more than 2 or 3 seconds you’re going to hit it with the crackle spray paint! Move Fast on this step. Then watch it crackle! Practice/test on a paper plate. Recommend! Welcome & Enjoy!

I was very sceptical after reading the reviews, but I saw a video on YouTube, and decided to give it a go. I was NOT disappointed!!!!! I’ve read the instructions on the can, they are basic at best. I did a test on a scrap of wood. It says lay thick costs of their paint, at east three layers-I used some old cans I had in my shed, can’t remember the brand-wait at least 45 mins but no longer than 24hrs. I did both to see what would happen. Basically, the longer you leave it, the bigger the flakes become. I did one with the paint still wet, and the flakes are so small you can hardly see it. I then waited 3hrs, and the flakes are bigger,-about 2mm- but where the paint is thinner(single coat) it didn’t work. So I decided to do theee coats, waiting 30 mins inbetween. Obviously the base coat I sanded down repeatedly until it was nice and smooth beforehand. I didn’t want the wood grain to show through. After the third coat, I waited 30 mins, then I gave it a nice wet coat all over, waited five minutes, and went to town with the black flake. It’s very different to normal spray paint, it feels very light, probably the best way I can describe it. So I coated it loads until my base colour didn’t show through anymore. In hindsight, I should have done it with more light, I did it in the evening, but the video said to do it when it’s cool and not in the sun. So…🤷🏻♂️ And all of a sudden, it begins right in front of your eyes!! The video I watched said to blow on it where it doesn’t seem to happen, and that seems to speed up the process a bit where you are blowing. The end result is AMAZING!! Exactly what I wanted! I used a dark red underneath, but I now want to try it on other things with brighter colours!! Wear a mask and do it outdoors, it literally takes your breath away, my asthma did not like it!! They say leave it 24hrs before using so I will wait. Can’t wait till it dries so I can clear coat it and preserve it for good!! Photo 1 is my happy end result! Photo 2 is the wet paint Photo 3 is the 3hrs on the end and the grey ish colour is 24hrs later.
