The Werner Herzog Collection [1967]

This is one of the best box sets I've ever owned. Granted, the packaging is kind of flimsy and the disc holders are unusual, but overall the content is what's really important; the transfers are beautiful, the sound is great, and the subtitles are poetic. I own the Shout Factory set as well, and the BFI blows it away in terms of picture quality. The only reason to get the Shout set is for the films not included with this release.Bottom Line, 6 stars for the content and it's quality, 2 stars for the packaging.

What can i say about this amazing collection that has not already been said. Arrived in mint condition. If your a fan of Herzog's films then this is a must buy.

Fantastic! He's one of a kind. Nobody else makes films anything like these. The quality of the picture and sound is great. If you're a fan of Werner Herzog, this set is a must.

great set but some unforgivable omissions not including Sign of Life and Even Dwarfs Started Small leaves a big gap in a great set .

Perfectly designed cover with taken scene from Fitzcarraldo, Aguirré, Wrath of God is amazing BFİ version of Werner HERZOG Collection is superb, so far the best available content of the Director, Higly recommended

Bargain for whats included - I had only seen "Fittzcarraldo" prior to purchase so it has been an adventure. Great transfers and extras. Some films left me cold (Nosferatu/Heart of Glass) while others are genuine masterpieces (Stroczek) - recommended.

Whats all this fuss about the enclosure…..like book flaps, are meant as a placement for the booklet.I suspect BFI will one day redesign the insert cover and make space for the booklet. BRAVO BFI!

As a long time follower of Herzog this is pure manna from heaven.Beautifully packaged by BFI it is surely a welcome collectors item, and a bargain to boot!

Viele nicht zu streamende Filme, Dokus und Kurzfilme außerordentlicher Qualität auf einem Haufen (aber das muss jemandem der nach Werner Herzog DVD-Boxen sucht wahrscheinlich nicht erklärt werden).Bildqualität ist wahrscheinlich das zu erreichende Optimum, gegeben dem Alter vieler der Filme (ich kann dazu jedoch keine informierte Aussage treffen).Dem Anbieter gilt es Lob auszusprechen! Auch wenn kurze Verwirrung bei mir einsetzte, als Amazon behauptete der Händler käme aus der UK, fand letztendendes Versand aus Deutschland statt, der sogar eine halbe Woche zu früh eintraf!Alles in allem ein gelungener Kauf und eine angenehme Kauferfahrung!

Once I'd decided I wanted to invest in a Herzog collection, it was a question of this one or the US release. (I have a multi-region player, I highly recommend them.) There's about a 50% overlap between the two, so It came down to what sounded more interesting, and I went with this one based on the inclusion of "Handicapped Future". The only thing I miss having is "Little Dieter Needs to Fly". It's arguably a coin flip, but I think I made the right choice. I'm half-way through the set and I have yet to be disappointed. One caveat, when given the choice between a German or English version of a film, take the German. The English version may have no narration or other odd decisions.

Heb ooit de film Fitzgaraldo van Herzog met Klaus Kinski (hoofdrol) gezien. Vond dat een nogal warrige verhaallijn met veel overwachte wendingen. Na aankoop van deze compilatie bekeek ik een aantal films van Herzog. Had veel moeite met de verhalen en ergerde mij aan ZuidAmerikanen die nagesynchroniseerd Duits of Engels spreken. BFI die deze compilatie samenstelde gaf als gebruikelijk ondertiteling in het Engels. Ook was er een Duitse versie van alles. Al met al geen compilatie die ik verder nog zou bekijken en niet wilde hebben in mijn filmverzameling. Gelukkig kon ik gebruik maken van de geldende bedenktermijn van 14 dagen. Na 2 dagen stuurde ik het item terug naar Amazon.nl en kreeg het volledige aankoopbedrag gerestitueerd.

Loving The Werner Herzog Collection from BFI, the extra documentaries make it worthwhile even if you already have all the main features.

I now know how to haul a paddlesteamer over a hill in the Amazon in order to make money so that I can put an opera on for the locals. I will update my review after the performance.
