Imperial Leather is better known in Europe, especially the UK, than in the US, where I have never found anyone who has even heard of it. Their loss. This soap is a treat - it lathers well (but not excessively) and rinses away easily leaving skin feeling properly clean, but not harshly exfoliated. The scent is distinctive but subtle (it's also available without scent) and "unisex" - men can use this without fear of being thought overly perfumed (had to think how to say that!). Each bar lasts 20-25 showers ("results may vary", of course). Finally, the price is a bargain, and likely cheaper than many quality soaps available in your supermarket or drug store. Try it - you won't be sorry.

Made by Cussons and has been around for years and years and years. This beautiful, creamy, delightfully perfumed luxury soap has been my favorite for as long as I can remember.I was able to obtain it until quite recently from Rite Aid but now for some reason they have stopped stocking it. So that is what brought me to faithful Amazon.Absolutely delighted to be able to buy this again. Highly recommended.UPDATE.I placed this order yesterday, bought from British Delights and fulfilled very swiftly by Amazon. I was amazed and pleasantly surprised at the speed in which this order was fulfilled. I eagerly opened the package to be at once disappointed. Be warned, this is NOT the original Imperial Leather, it looks like it, it is the same color and shape but no distinctive Imperial Leather perfume! Also, the soap packages are different and the label stuck in the middle of the soap. It appears to be a cheap reproduction sans Imperial Leather perfume. Amazon dealt very efficiently with my complaint and I have now ordered a packet of 4 from another company, Cooking Marvellous. Will post a review about those when they come.

I collect bar soaps from our travels around the world, and I discovered this one at a little grocery store in Harrich, England, while our ship was docked. Not knowing whether I liked it or not until I returned to the U.S., I only bought 3 bars. Once we got home and tried it, both my husband and I absolutely loved it --- the incredibly rich lather, the scent (which smells great in the shower but doesn't linger strongly afterward), and how well made it is. So I ordered a case of 12 on Amazon and now I know I don't have to go back to England to get this wonderful soap! This is one of the few soaps that we both like, and, although it has what might be described as a masculine smell when we're using it, it leaves our skin with a fresh scent that is not "masculine." We love it.

We have been buying this soap for decades, at first from a long-established British product importer and more recently through Amazon as such specialists migrated there. Its hypoallergenic, nice-for-anyone odor, its thick creamy suds, its refusal to melt and wash away while sitting in the soap dish, make it superior to anything we could buy in a supermarket or drugstore. And the price is reasonable, too. If you are into recycling, the fat in this soap comes from beef that are used primarily for food, not from petroleum or tropical oils. It has no detergents added and cleans gently but well. Our travel discovery has been a long-term winner!

The Imperial Leather soap factory in Nottingham closed in 2005 as people started to prefer shower gels, etc., and production was no longer sustainable financially. The production rights were sold to a company in Thailand and people have been decrying the loss of real P. Zed Cusson's soap ever since. Nonsense! The soap is just as I remembered it and is still the best soap with a light scent that's not overwhelming and is certainly superior to many alternatives available today. Recommend you buy with confidence and don't worry about where it's made.

This was my favorite soap when I started traveling internationally, and I always used to take a couple of bars home when I stayed in the Mandarin in Hong Kong. Room rates for the Mandarin are about US$ 700 now, and business class airfare is crazy expensive. I like to pretend that buying them from Amazon saves me about $1,500 on each bar.

Pleasant enough, but definitely does NOT smell anything like leather. I do like the scent, but it doesn't have staying power. An hour after the shower and I couldn't smell it on my skin any longer. I don't wear powders, perfumes or lotions, so there was nothing to interfere.Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase, because the soap does work well enough and I do like it. However, I am unsure that I will repurchase this. If I do, it will be after trying out some other "leather"-scented soaps.

I have loved this soap for 40 years since I first used it in England. I feel very clean after the use of Imperial Leather. The clean smell does not clash with any fragrance that I wear because the soap smell does disappear in a short m period of time.
