Product Description Third instalment of the popular CGI-animated franchise. While Scrat the squirrel is still trying to get his paws on that ever-elusive nut, Manny (voiced by Ray Romano) and Ellie (Queen Latifah) anxiously await the birth of their mini-mammoth, and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) wonders if he's growing too laid-back living the life of a pampered house cat. Meanwhile, Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) gets into trouble when he creates his own makeshift family by hijacking some unusually large eggs, and inadvertently discovers a mysterious underground world where dinosaurs still roam. .co.uk Review Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs opens with the stitched-together prehistoric family about to become a biological one: Manny (voiced by Ray Romano) and his mate Ellie (Queen Latifah) are expecting a baby mammoth. Unfortunately, this makes Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger (Denis Leary) feel left out. Diego, who worries he’s losing his edge, decides to head out on his own, while Sid adopts three suspiciously large eggs that he’s found through a crack in the ice. Up to this point, the movie is perilously sappy--does anyone, particularly a kid, want to watch a kid’s movie about parenthood and impending middle age? Fortunately, the eggs turn out to be dinosaur eggs from a pre-mammalian underworld, and when the mama T-Rex comes to rescue her rambunctious little ones, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs transforms into a delightful comic adventure. The emotional side of the Ice Age movies has always been a tad mawkish, so it’s smart that Dawn of the Dinosaurs emphasises physical comedy. Clearly, the animators have been inspired by a wild fusion of Road Runner cartoons and Buster Keaton. The character of Scratte, with his non-verbal, monomaniacal efforts to get that last acorn (doubled in this movie with the addition of a female counterpart), is only the most obvious reflection of this sensibility. The animators have great fun with the differences in scale between the mammals and the dinosaurs, and the introduction of a deranged Australian weasel named Buck (Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead) pushes everything into Loony-Tune territory. Let Pixar tug at our heartstrings; Ice Age aims to tickle the funny bone and does a fine job of it.--Bret Fetzer, .com

An indispensible Kids Film Buy - to be enjoyed Again and Again
Careful - some reviews will tell you the entire plot of this film and ruin it for you - I won'tBefore I buy a DVD for my kids, I always ask myself 2 questions:Did the kids enjoy it in the cinema? Will they want to watch it again and again? It's a resounding yes on both counts hereThis was a top afternoon's entertainment and the kids (6 and 8) absolutely loved it, were never bored and talked about it for hours afterwards. What more do you want?We thought this was the best Ice Age yet; a lot more adventurous, exciting and fast-paced than the others. The 'Lost World' premise and a couple of excellent new characters really brought the movie to life and opened up new possibilities.Inevitably, this will be compared to Pixar movies and I think it stands up to that comparison very well - VERY HIGH praise indeed.Buy this and know your kids will get pleasure from it over and over again and you will too!

As long as you don't expect much of a story line...
There's no spoilers in this review...I give it 4 stars for but its for the value of entertaining the children alone. It's a kids film and our 6 year olds love it. They could watch it back to back all day if we let them. Now, I know won't get any 'helpful comments votes' but for family (that includes parents!) entertainment I wouldn't give it any stars. It was mildly amusing but not very funny. The humour is generally based on sly remarks at the expense of another character.I have to admit I can't say it was boring as there was constant jeopardy until they objective is achieved. It was the constant repartition of the perilous situations that was boring. It's not like choice is restricted as it cheap for a DVD but if it were I'd choose almost any Pixar film over Ice Age.

Ice Age 3
The third in the series and easily as good as the first film. The mis matched herd are off on another adventure, this time Sid finds some dinosaur eggs and decides to raise them, before long he get's kdinapped by their mother and the adventure begins. Although the plot is different, it's reminiscent of Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The animation is pure slapstick with visual gags aplenty, the humour appeals to all ages, though the witty one-liners are definately for adults. The film is good entertainment and you'll love it as much as your kids.

Ice Age 3 is just as good and funny as the first two!
The Blu-ray transfar for Ice Age 3 is one the best I've seen and just like the first two Ice Age flims you will be laughing nonstop. Scrat are nut hunting nutter has got himself a girlfriend/nemesis called Scratte whom is even more nutty. Sid is even more insane then normal and steals eggs which belong to a T-Rex. Manni and Ellie are going to be parents and Diego is having a mid-life crisis. all in all this an excellent family film in which everyone should enjoy alot.

Had my husband and I laughing out loud!
After being slightly disappointed in Ice Age 2 from the original this one made up for it! The addition of a certain new character is hysterical and they definately add to the story. All the original characters are there and funny as ever. This adventure out does all they have done before and I would highly recommend this to adults and children as there is something for everyone.
