This does work!!
I was restoring a friends 2011 iMac. The help video supplied does not have sound but DOES advise turning on subtitles - where all the associated information you need can be found.

Quick and Easy Installation
I reformatted an old MacBook which in turn wiped the OS. After a lot of playing around unsuccessfully trying to reinstall the OS through the MacBook's own utility (there was an error connecting to the server - possibly due to age it longer existed) I found this.Lifesaver! Plugged it in, got recognised straight-away and installed with no problems. Wish I knew about this earlier, would've saved me hours in wasted time.

Works when your machine cannot connect to the server
Yep worked for me… I had the can’t connect to the server message when trying to reinstall the apple OS. The instructions could be better but it did the job without any hitches and I was quickly back up and running. Saved me heaps of time in trying other ways of getting the brick to be a computer once more.

Yes it does work if that is your worry
I read some negative reviews.I did a factory reset on my iMac and carefully followed the restore instructions by the prompts .Every time I came to the download same message ‘ unable to contact the Apple Server ‘My network was ok.Purchased this and it did the job.Why not 5 stars then ?The instructions are not as precise as you need and don’t sequence as expected but instead I followed the on screen instructions and was back to a functional system.

Did exactly what I needed it to.
I had tried to resurrect an older Mac which had been wiped, and had been messing about trying to create my own bootable version of High Sierra, which I found extremely frustrating to do without another Mac to download from.I bit the bullet and bought this, and did the job perfectly in about half an hour. The instructions and video are pretty basic but the USB and software did exactly what I needed them to. Can't fault it.
