The discovery of a falsified report from a Czech Pharmaceutical Company to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration thrusts Jeannine Ryan and Bill Hamm into the center of a nightmare plot by jihadists; a plot to use a massive, destructive Cold War weapon on the United States. The technological skills of the ex-communists, combined with the suicidal fervor of the Islamic extremists create a force that appears invincible. With minimal aid from authorities, and in spite of their different backgrounds, ordinary Americans and Czechs fight the conspirators in the States and overseas in order to minimize the threat. In the process old wounds are healed and new wounds opened.
