This light is expensive compared to the competition, but Hue systems have always been consistently reliable, and their sleek designs let them compliment many settings. This gradient tube is not limited to only being used as a back drop for the TV. I use it on a glass shelf above my TV, as an accent light, to add some mood lights to the shelf, and also light up the glass pane with it. The light itself can be freely rotated, to angle the hotspot to where you need it. That makes it very versatile as a mood light. That's the other thing Hue has, that competitors seem to have difficulty doing. Anyone can make an LED light, but Hue lights excel at creating pastel colors. Competing products can create very bright and vibrant colors, but they consequently have a hard time creating a softer, dimmer, palette of colors. That is why Hue lights are amazing as mood lights, for when I don't want my space lit up obnoxiously with neon colors in the evening. When you dim a Hue light to 1%, it really is nearly dark and barely visible. When used as a TV light, this light has 3 zones: left middle and right. My experience with using the PC version of the Hue Sync app and playing a Fluid Sim video is that the color matching is fairly accurate, but it is limited to those 3 zones. I do not see a gradual transition between the zones, so the light doesn't blend gradient colors together for Hue Sync, as it would when you are using a normal effect on the light. A sweeping red light moving across the 3 zones will not transition smoothly across them, but light up each 1/3 of the tube red as it passes by. Not a big deal, but it is a limitation to be aware of, if you're expecting the color transitions along the tube to be smooth in a Hue Sync setup. All in all, for the price I paid, I got an amazing mood light, and a fairly decent TV ambilight. I would consider that 2 products for the price of one. My first Hue bulbs were purchased in 2018, and they still work great now, 7 years later. I think that should be a fairly good indicator of how reliable Hue products are, and why that consistent reliability should be a consideration when looking at the price.

So I've been using one of these for a while now and added the 2nd one to my PC gaming setup. One is mounted on shelf above my monitor facing downwards towards the wall and one is hanging off the back of my desk with some 3d printed hooks facing upwards towards the wall. I also have two hue play bars hanging off my 27" monitor so everything is pretty much covered. They all work perfectly together as one entertainment zone (what the groups are called in Hue Sync app). The light they output is fantastic for gaming, movies, etc. And fully adjustable via the hue sync phone app or hue sync app for PC. I leave these two automated to sync with whatever is on my PC screen unless I'm doing work. 6/26/24: So the replacement came and it was shipped in just the retail packaging with an Amazon label slapped on it. Seriously??? Box was all beat up, but not totally destroyed. However, the light was fine and worked perfectly. I'm updating my stars from 2 to 5. All product lines have QC issues and I seem to have struck one with my other order. This order was solely an Amazon issue of not being shipped in a shipping box. 6/23/24: I already have the white version of this and didn't have any problems from unboxing or constant use. When I took this black version out of the box, I immediately knew something was wrong. The corded end was very loose where the tube rotates in the socket. Like it wasn't factory inserted correctly or came loose during shipping. It had a lot of play in a direction it's not supposed to move. The non-corded end was fine though. After contacting Amazon support I have a replacement on the way. Please learn from my mistake of almost waiting past the the return window and OPEN/CHECK THE LAMP as soon as you get it.

We love these lights for under our TVs. They are sleek, easy to install and really add light to the room. We have had a few of these and they all are amazing

Very nice quality light tube, although it is definitely expensive. The only reason for 4 stars is I was hoping it would be a bit brighter, but overall it adds a nice ambient accent. You do not NEED the sync box if you just want to use this as a regular hue-style light.

This piece works great in my hue set up! I would say if you're using it for backlighting for a TV, the smallest tc I would use it with would be a 65" for the large tube. Any smaller and it might stick out or look weird. Installation didn't take too long. It was a little annoying but only mildly. I would have a friend help if you're wall mounting. Also depending on your TV mount and how far your TV comes out vs what tools you have you may have to take down the TV, mount, and then put the TV back up like we did. The colors are vibrant and great, just like any of the hue products! It compares to my play strip I also have on my TV. The lights can be dimmed or turned up to whatever percentage you desire. As far as durability goes, it's made of plastic so it's not exactly fragile like glass but I still wouldn't beat it up. For the money I would say it's priced well and makes a great addition to your current sync set up. Photos and videos included are shown with a 75" television using the hue sync for lg app. The play tube is lighting the bottom of the TV. The sides and top of the TV are a play strip for 75" TV's. The 3 lights in the entertainment center are hue play bars. And the overhead lighting are hue ambient color bulbs

This was the perfect product to complete my lighting around my TV. It's versatile with several possible ways to set it up. It's very bright. I went a little bigger with the large with my 55" tv. I highly recommend if you're already in the Hue ecosystem.

Works great filling in the bottom beneath our 65” LG. A little expensive, as is everything Hue, but great quality. Easy to set up and adjust the angle of the light. Very happy.
