Fisher Solid Black 0 Gravity Space Pen Matte

I have an early version of this pen from late sixties/ early seventies. It cost $12.99 and had an American flag decal on it, a tiny remnant of which can be seen if you enlarge the picture. The pen has been in constant use since then and has never failed until recently I lost the spring that controls retraction. I was looking at current Fishers to replace mine. When I saw the price, I took apart a free advertisement pen and took the spring from it. Now my pen is working like new again and I go on just loving it! Fifty years’ service can’t be bad!!!!

The external coating easily comes off just like other reviewers have said. I personally found the internal mechanism to be durable. It takes standard Fisher refills which are very expensive but good and the essence of what this pen is all about. I bought two and mine came in a well made plastic presentation cases. However you will be paying a hefty premium for the Fisher designer name.
