UPDATE DECEMBER 2020:After struggling to install another couple of smart devices (not from this seller), I decided to double-check my Wi-fi settings and realised that I was trying to install them on the wrong bandwidth! I re-jigged my settings and success! Which led me to try these plugs again and SUCCESS! So, credit where it’s due - the issue was not with this product, it was with me. Very happy with these plugs now, they’re finally earning their keep :-)PREVIOUS REVIEW: Bought these two years ago, and they’ve never worked on the basis that I wanted them for, i.e. Smart plugs. I’ve tried them periodically, just in case there’ve been updates on the associated app which might help, but to no avail. I’ve recently bought a Hue bridge and I thought this might be the “missing link” but no. I’ve given up now and it’s a case of you definitely get what you pay for.

The switch has a quality feel to it, it’s well made and assembled. The unit has a manual on-off push switch so it can operated without the app; the switch is surrounded by an LED ring, this glows green to show power and blue when it is on. Once the ewelink app has been downloaded and activated, push the on-off switch for 5 seconds and the LED flashes and the unit is searching for wifi networks, then follow the process in the app for adding devices. The process is straightforward and the unit can be given a name, e.g. “decking”. The app then usually updates the software in the device to the latest version. From within the app you can see the wifi signal strength for individual devices, useful for troubleshooting. Switching on and off and setting timers is intuitive and can be done from anywhere on a mobile phone. Connection to Alexa is straightforward, enable the ewelink app and then search for devices, control can then be “Alexa, switch on the decking”, she then turns it on and says “OK”. I have four of these switches and they all work perfectly. Recommended.

Despite the 5 star ratings I spent at least 2 hours trying to get these to pair and they both failed every time. Disappointing given the reviews. Returning for refund.UPDATE I finally got them working using the COMPATIBLE DEVICE route and connecting wifi to manufacturers wifi ITEAD then inputting code 12345678 the connection to which only lasts a minute or two. Only 3 stars now because of the confusion of connection. The straight forward app connection does not work

The sockets were a bit reluctant to connect to my network but I managed it third go. There are no instructions about how to use with Alexa but enable the E-WeLink skill and it works fine. They’ve worked fine since I’ve had them, lose one star because of the slightly dodgy connection

Great smart plugs.. setup was easy and was able to use the app that comes recommended to setup or I chose to sync with my Alexa echo . Now I can turn on my fan/lights/ets just by asking Alexa...they’re greatPackaged really well and arrived quickly

Bit of a mess on in getting it to work with Alexa but eventually managed it.

Fantastic item. Easy to set up, and does exactly as described. It one doesn't work.

You have to pay for extra features like the timer. Returned these and got £5 ones from Poundland - much better!
