Saint Thomas Aquinas For Children and the Childlike Paperback – April 27, 2009

Raissa Oumansoff Maritain was the wife of the famous philosopher Jacques Maritain, and a great philosopher in her own right. Many philosophers like to talk to other philosophers, and lecture in universities, and participate in Symposia. In this little book, Raissa trys to do something else. She uses her talent as a fine philosopher to present the life of Thomas Aquinas, one of the greatest of philosophers, to children. Her husband wrote a book "Introduction to Philosophy " which is a good 'first book in Philosophy' for college students.This little book "Saint Thomas Aquinas" is a good 'first book in philosophy' for children, as well as being an excellent biography of Thomas.

My 11 year old son really enjoyed this book! He loved telling me about St. Thomas as he read each chapter, and I think he will want to learn more about St. Thomas as he matures.

This is a strange and wonderful book. I enjoyed it myself and then gave it to a 9-year-old knowing she would enjoy reading about the saint for whom our local church is named.

I got it for three children. I asked their mother's to read it to their children because is starts out with an obvious grace of God concerning a scrap of paper which Thomas received. throughout the book there are obvious intercessions guiding the young life of Thomas. It was an enthralling little book that even touches the parents to desire to know truth.

This is a very dry book and has lots of words that are tough for even kids in the advertised 8-12 age range.

Had to give up on reading it halfway through. Was reading it aloud to my 8 year old son, who loves the Vision saints books and the Windeatt saints books. It was very difficult to read aloud, perhaps because the author was a poet and this book was probably a translation into English. My son and I had a hard time following it.
