I have had bad experiences in the past with them not up to the task, these cut through nails like butter, I have a dog that is quite nervous and hates you going anywhere near if he can help it, he's getting used to them now, highly recommend

I have a big dog and had tried to use the scissor style nail trimmers for a long time however she has one nail that grows in the wrong direction and I was terrified of accidentally cutting her. These ones are strong enough to get through her thick nails but slim enough to get round her funny toenail without me having to struggle to see where I’m cutting or worrying about hurting her. You can also trim off really small pieces at once with these for regular trims which I haven’t been able to do with the scissor clippers

I have a 14yr old dog with extreme paw-sensitivity. She has never tolerated the scissor style of clippers due to the way they crush the claw, and as such I can only use a claw grinder with her to get any form of progress made and even that can be hit or miss as to whether she'll co-operate on any given day.I bought these after wondering whether the guillotine style of clipper would be more tolerable. They took a little while to arrive but as I was in no rush, this was fine. Once they arrived, they (Large size) were smaller than I'd expected, but they were the right size for her claws (she's a German Shorthaired Pointer with long, thick claws, for reference). Although it's a little hard to squeeze them shut fully sometimes, I actually managed to cut through her claws bit by bit without her struggling and fighting against them for the first time in her life. Combined with the grinder, these clippers worked wonderfully and I'm glad I decided to try them out.

Much, much easier to use than the usual type you see for sale. Was recommended these by a dog groomer and they have not disappointed. Wouldn’t use anything else now.
