Please let me know how I can measure the temperature of an iron, then I will let you know.

How can this possibly be only 5.1cm wide? Surely that's wrong?

I purchased this for an elderly neighbour who doesn't like steam irons, I opened the box to make sure it was all good,I didn't measure the plate, which I'm presuming you mean is 5.1cm wide.. It's definitely bigger than that, It looked about 12cms.
