A tanto blade is quintessential Japanese. The tanto is a dagger and generally has a single or double edged blade. The tanto was designed primarily as a stabbing weapon, but the edge can be used for slashing as well. Our Kenta Damascus Steel Tanto Tactical Folder is a modern, western version of the tanto with a tactical twist. Of course, it is also a folder with a liner lock. Respecting the Japanese form of the tanto, we named this knife Kenta. Kenta is derived from Ken, meaning "healthy, strong" and Ta, meaning "thick, big".
