So, I picked up this gate with the intentions of having to buy all new hardware based on others reviews that the hardware was cheap and faulty. Once arrived, I took everything out of the box and decided to try and install using the hardware provided. I had the unique issue where I had to drill into the vinyl siding of our house and thought the screws would be a problem, but they went in and are sturdy. I even had to take them out a few times and re-adjust (the angles on the siding weren’t easy to work with). The only thing I did notice was that the tops strip easily, but I increased the torque on my power drill, which helped and kept the screws from being stripped. The gate itself is perfect for our application. I have a 2 year old toddler, 2 dogs and a cat. It kept everyone inside the deck, safe and sound. Our wide opening made it a little difficult to pull the gate with one hand but I can look past that since everything else about it is perfect. All in all, the gate and it’s components were easy to install, easy to open and close, and does it’s job of keeping the opening to the stairway closed. If I had another opening I needed another gate for, I’d 100% repurchase. That being said, I recommend this gate.

Bought for my stairs in my garage. Does the job. Don’t love how it clips in when you expand it but it functions well for what i need it for. Easy to install, my half wall was not plumb so i had to redo once of the small holders but works well now. Good size. I would not put in house but works great in garage.

I have owned a lot of different types of dog gates. From the really expensive iron gates with an easy walk thru door to the simple wooden tension mounted gates and various plastic gates in between. What I love about this gate is that it’s retractable and mounted to the inside of the doorway so when it is retracted you never see it from the other side of the room. It is super easy to pull close and retract. Our door opening is 60" wide for 2 sliding barn doors and it fits the opening just perfectly. That is the max opening for this gate. I just give the knob on top a turn to release it and then pull it open or retract it closed. I can do it with one hand. You do not have to have your hand on the knob to open or close the gate the entire time as some reviews have stated. I don't think they read the operating instructions. With a 60" wide doorway that would be impossible. The installation was really easy. It comes with a template for the left and the right side of the doorway with an outline of the hardware drawn on the template so you know which piece goes on which side and the orientation. They couldn't make it any easier. It also includes spacers to accommodate your wall trim at the floor. Super happy with this purchase and it keeps my dogs securely in their room. The last expensive metal gate with swinging door that we had, my dachshund figured out how to press the mechanism at the bottom of the door to unlock the gate and get out. Nothing on this one for him to unlock. Great purchase. Seems well made but no rating for durability yet as I have only had it a month. Update: 5 mos later - gate is holding up well. But my dogs (20 lb) daschund mixes have figure out they can go under the gate and escape. The vinyl is not completely taught when expanded out and latched to the other side of the doorway. There is just enough play where they can lift up the material with their noses and squeeze under. Ugh. Once again another dog gate foiled by my two escape artists. A bigger dog would probably not be able to do this. I really love this gate and wanted it to work because it looks nice and retracts out of site when not in use.

I have a wide space of 60” from the living room wall to the metal banister of the stairs leading down. I needed to have something easy to open or step over to keep the baby out of the kitchen, hallway and away from the stairs. I had a gate at the stairs, one at the kitchen and one in the hallway, which was just too many gates to open and close and step over all day long, so I wanted just one in that space. This retractable gate seemed like a good idea, but now I’m regretting it. First of all, it was very hard to install. If you’re going from wall to wall it’s probably much easier, but we went from wall with a baseboard to a bumpy metal railing and couldn’t get it to line up properly on the first try. After we finally got it installed, we realized how annoying it is to open and close. It’s definitely not a one-handed operation, even if we didn’t have it stretching out 60”. You have to push and turn the little lock on one side and pull it across to latch on the hooks to close it, and while you can push and turn the lock and then start pulling the mesh across and release the lock, if you stop pulling the gate it locks in place wherever you stopped. So if the baby crawls under you and you stop, or you just don’t pull enough to the latches, you then have to stop, push and turn the lock again and pull across. To open it, I have to reach over to the lock and push and turn, and stretch my other arm across to grab the handle to pull it open, so it’s a big reach. My older kids can’t open it, so I have to open it for them. My husband and I can step over it (it’s a big stretch for me), but of course the kids can’t and it’s annoying to have to do that over something so tall anyway (waist high on me, 5’6”). It does block off a space well if you’re not going in and out repeatedly through the gate, and it looks really nice and has a low profile when retracted. I love that when she’s in bed I can just roll the whole thing up to the wall, not move a bunch of gates or keep going through gate doors. She can’t get under it, which I was worried about since it’s mounted to the railing it couldn’t go right against the floor, there’s about a 2” space, and she saw it and tried to press under it and pull up, but it’s not moving. It is mounted very sturdy and she can lean against it and press her face on it and it doesn’t budge. Overall, it works and it looks nice, but the locking mechanism on this particular gate is too tedious to keep in a high traffic area. I ordered one that looks almost identical but has a different lock, and I will be switching them out and putting this one in my dining room where it won’t need to be opened and closed so much.

This gate is excellent. It took me like 15 minutes to install and it’s perfect for the doorway I needed it for. The doorway is awkward and won’t fit most gates but this one actually fits !! I would 100% recommend !!

The door fitted well on the bedroom door frame and works very well with keeping our puppy away from the bedroom, solid and strong, very happy with it!

Quite good quality, just know you will sometimes need 2 hands to properly operate it. We used it for top of the stairs and are quite happy, with perhaps the only critic of this model type is that, while perfectly discreet and more elegant than other models, *you actually need to remember to close it* - whereas bulkier gates usually have an auto-closing mechanism. Other than that, quite happy and it was pretty easy to install.

It's a good quality retractable gate and fits 1.8 m entrance/openings. All fittings are top quality and instructions are comprehensive. They have taken care of fixing inside and outside doorway and also provided for the floor having skirting. I purchased for a door way that is about 0.9 m wide and fixed it in another opening that is 1.8 m. It works very well and serves the purpose. I was not sure of how it will fare with year old twins, but it serves well. Installation takes some work if you are not accustomed to drilling/DIY stuff. The skirting we had is granite, luckily I consulted a neighbour who advised against drilling in granite with home use drills. Installed it just above the 10-11 cm skirting.
