I got really nostalgic for the grass mats we used to get at the Jersey shore when I was a kid. They had this smell that people either love or hate, it's grassy in the way that hay and straw are grassy, which is to say, not a 'green' smell like just-cut lawn grass. More like.... the dampness of earth in the morning, before dew evaporates. Kind of. It smells like itself, anyway. Also I hate wall to wall carpeting, it's kind of a scourge. It's good for dampening sound and nothing else. I like to cover it when I can. I really had no idea what to expect but this mat is a delight. It folds easily and the seams have held up nicely so far. I use this under my bed on the floor, so like the weight spread is broad across the surface. There hasn't been any deformation in the panels, they still fold up flat and perfect. I've wondered if it would hold up the same if it were in a living room with high foot traffic or furniture legs standing on it. Maybe, maybe not. I'm very pleased with it for my use case anyway. It's very light too, considering its sturdiness. It's much nicer to lay down on this surface than on polyester carpet pile! Also, you can just sweep crumbs up easily if you were eating crackers in bed, which I would never do because I'm classy but someone might do that. If you like the rush grass smell, you can't go wrong with this.

What odor? Are all the odor complainers city-slickers that started off their life in an antiseptic hospital for the first 20 years? Subtle subtle grass smell upon IMMEDIATE opening.

Really useless since it doesnt let the futon breathe. Plus after a couple of months the smell is still strong even after being left out in the sun mutiple times. Would not recommend unless you like the smell of cheap plastic

We absolutely love this item. The smell is AMAZING it's natural and real. I bought this for my 16 yr old son. He threw out his mattress and switched to this. He absolutely loves it! I wish they made them in King sizes!!! Yes, we did have some very tiny I'm talking miniscule, beetles, or my sone said he seen them, I didn't see them. I asked him if he wanted to rutern it, Ilhe researched and found that this is normal and they are not contagious or harmful. But idk, they seem to be gone. We absolutely love it and recommend it and will buy more!
