The Escape Room Advent Calendar: Puzzle book for adults with 24 interactive riddles to solve while waiting for christmas (Escape Room 2.0 Books)

If you are good at figuring out escape rooms and brain puzzles, this is for you! The book is basically pencil sketches, but its very well done. The answers to previous puzzles sometimes give you help solving the current one. At no point did we ever say "Oh that was an easy one!" They are VERY challenging!! I got this for my 14 yr old son who loves escape room games and puzzles. Unless you have a little Einstein on your hands, i wouldn't go any younger than that. We started doing it together, and it took both of us and our combined knowledge and googling skills! It started out very fun! You open the book and each daily puzzle spans 2 pgs. Each puzzle has a QR code for clues if you're stuck, and to enter in the solution you come up with. You will definitely need to use google, and for some, you will absolutely need to get clues. Sadly, some got to be so challenging that we just couldn't figure it out and my teen lost interest. i had also given this book to my sister's girls, 14 and 10, and it ended up being my sister and her husband doing them with some "help" from the girls. I would say this isn't for just a casual puzzler, but for someone who's really good at working things out. If this applies to you or someone you know, i highly recommend this book. It definitely gives your brain a workout!

this was my first advent calendar, and i was not ready for how much fun it would be. it’s not a traditional advent calendar, by all means, but it gives you a little brain teaser each and every day. in the morning, i would sip my coffee and do that day’s puzzle, and i genuinely looked forward to it. there’s no way to skip a day because they build on each other, some days requiring the clue from the last. really building on the story within the book.i also like that there is a way to get the answer to each day, you just have to wait 2 days before getting the answer. and there is also an active forum in various languages that consumers are using that you are free to ask/answer questions in!i will say if you are not tech savvy in the sense of scanning/reading qr codes, you may not enjoy this book.overall, great experience and i’m sad it’s over. now what to do with the book? toss it? horde it in a box? time shall tell.

It is just day 1 but the first puzzle was good. The QR code worked (there was a note on the webpage that they were down for two hours earlier today). I like the interactivity!

This book is filled with fun and challenging puzzles. Some of them are fairly easy, but others are real head scratchers. There’s a wide range of topics and you need to use different methods to solve the puzzles. Your phone is used, which made it even more engaging. For the hardest ones I’ve used a hint or two, but it was still very satisfying when I figured it out. So far December has been entertaining and enjoyable.Hello from the other side to you too, SOLV 😉

I was really excited for this book, but it was just way too difficult at times. The hints given on the websites weren't always that helpful, and so it was really hard to solve the puzzles. Some of the puzzles that I could solve were fun, but I could have used more help. Also, it would have been nice to have some sort of solution manual that walked you through how to get a solution. You could occasionally get the correct solution from an online forum or through P.A.T., but those were just the solution without any of the steps towards getting that solution. Thus, I became frustrated a lot of the time at not being able to find the solution and not being able to understand how to get the solution. I didn't even bother trying to finish the book because I just wasn't enjoying myself. All in all, this was poorly designed.

My 12-year-old and I love escape rooms and logic puzzles and we loved this book! Such a fun addition to our holiday traditions - even though the holidays were busy, so we didn't finish until New Year's Eve.The book includes QR codes for each day, hints (if needed), and a page for notes for each day. We chose not to write in the book so we can pass it on to a friend!The riddles are challenging and we needed hints for a few, but they were perfect for my knowledge-loving kid and I! We highly recommend it!

We're only on day 2, but the puzzles are fun so far. Yesterday's was easy, and today's was harder, so it seems like there will be a good variety of puzzles. It looks like clues are available online, but we haven't needed them yet. They did have some issues with their website on day 1, but we waited, and it's been working with no issues since then. There was a note on the website today that they were aware of the day 1 issues, so hopefully, it's been fully resolved.

I really enjoyed a lot of the puzzles in this book, and was grateful for an advent calendar that was geared toward my interests. There were, though, several issues with this book. First of all, as many other reviewers said, this is not a puzzle book for all ages as it is marketed, and requires a HUGE breadth of knowledge and Google to understand. When I think "escape room", I think that everything should be solvable from what I've been given... I don't think about the need for Google, whatsapp, mileage calculators, or NEEDING hints to solve some of them (literally, a few of the puzzles had hints that mentioned errors in the book that made said puzzle unsolvable). The book definitely needed more testers to ensure that it was doable and correct. By the end, I gave up and looked at hints a lot quicker than I would have had I felt like the puzzles were based on things that I could discern from the page. Additionally, I feel like more specific questions than "Whats the solution?" for each day would be helpful, as sometimes it was absolutely not clear even which direction one should go to try and solve the puzzle. With all that being said, many of these puzzles were super fun and really clever, and with significant improvement for next year I would absolutely try it again! :)

Note: a lot of negative reviews seem to stem from a simple code fix on one of their puzzles that was solved in 2 hrs. Sad that something minor is dragging down a fun product.I got this for my wife and we’re having a lot of fun with it. It takes quite a bit to solve but the puzzle variety is excellent and frankly hard to do better for 20 bucks. I hope this thing sells so there are more! Very satisfied.
