Orca - Killer Whale: Extraordinary Animal Photos & Facinating Fun Facts For Kids (Weird & Wonderful Animals)

What a fun book to read. This book saved me hours of looking at websites online and doing research on the internet when I wanted to learn more about the killer whale and get some facts.The author, Selena Dale, does a really good job of organizing the book, with all of the amazing stuff right up front. Chapter 1 explains Orcas and the mammal family, Chapter 2 tells you where you can see Orcas swimming – where they live, Chapter 3 goes into the physical characteristics, so you can recognize them, and so on. I really like the picture and explanation of the whale teeth in Chapter 6 !I thought that the quizzes at the end of each chapter were helpful and fun to do, a few review questions to help you remember what you’ve just read. This book would make a great home school assignment or could even be the basis for a science fair project. It is certainly a nice reference for any school assignment.There are plenty of pictures throughout the book, and of course, the fun facts in each chapter also, which this author is known for. I have bought three of Selena’s other books so far, and I want to say this is my favorite – but I don’t know what the next one will be about! Okay, it is my favorite so far, but I do recommend you buy all of Selena Dale’s books in the animal series.

Others have mentioned this but it appears to be a print-out of a kindle book. The text is kind of silly and one of the pics is not even of an orca, which my 3 YO quickly pointed out. I regret spending good money on this.

My 6 year old grandson is into whales. He likes thw book but I was disappointed expecting more photos instead of as much text...really thin booklet really.

This is not a book, it’s like a printed power point

I enjoyed this ebook about Orcas- I remember learning bits and pieces of these magnificent whales from Free Willey, which I had enjoyed. Not the parts where Willey was in trouble at ties but rooted for him. Beautiful photos too. Therefore I wish to recommend this for five stars and especially any kids young or older who may wish to see and learn more about orcas. Would rate it a 0 stars if possible. First it appears to be a print out from the Kindle version, as evidenced by the first page that says, "click images to enlarge." And the remaining publication qualities are very poor . The images are all black and white, no color other than the cover. The copyright information is not in the normal location (at the beginning of the book). Second, given that the copyright, once found, is 2014, the facts are not very accurate. I say this as my 5 year old son is very interested in Orcas, and we have been subjected to many different sources of information about them. Had this been written in 1990, it would be understandable, and I am no marine biologist or expert by any stretch. Further, the grammar and writing appears as if it was written by a 10 year old for a school report.Wish i had my $7.99 back.
