BSASALT661M AMP Saltwater Spinning Rod

I am no expert fisherman but the rod is light and seems to have decent action. Bought to replace an old rod that got broken. It is graphite so hopefully won't get brittle as fast as my old glass rods.

Bought this rod for fishing in Wilmington, NC. I used it on the pier and caught several fish. Paired with a decent Diawa reel, 30lb braid and fluorocarbon you can see and feel every little nibble! I used a 2oz weight and sometimes a 3oz! Rod had a great back bone to offer flex and strength to keep the line tight. I would buy this rod again. I paired it with a Diawa 3000 series reel but wish I had a 4000 for what I was using for lures and line. I was worried about the reel seat and it being able to hold up to the big sinkers I was using and catching a bigger fish but it held up just fine 🙂

Product was broken upon delivery, box was a little damaged, but pole was broken in half.

I have 8 of these, 2 of each length offered in the spinning version and 2 casting rods. I can’t bring myself to buy anything else. For the money you can’t beat them. This is the first one I have ordered from Amazon. They could have thrown a little bubble wrap in the box, but the rod arrived just fine and in perfect shape. Would and will buy again if/when I need a replacement. I finally broke one of mine after a couple years of use by snagging it going under a low bridge in the boat. Completely my fault, but it didn’t hurt too bad to replace it at $30. Other than user error all of mine have been great.

Does what you need it to do

Handled a 50+lb black drum without trouble. It was bent almost in half and stayed true.These are excellent rods, assuming they are shipped / packed properly. I have had 2 arrive damaged, but the ones that were packed well in a single box are just as good or better than you'd find in your local sporting goods store. They are not medium action however, they have decent backbone and ultra-fast action.

Most of the negative reviews are about shipping or someone ordering saltwater and using it for freshwater and not liking it. Review for the actual product, good lightweight rod for some inshore fishing. If this thing isn't a total POS then you ca t complain. Its $30!
