Good read
This is a good beginner's book covering JQuery UI. The examples are useful and the author writes in an easy-to-read fashion. You could get the same info online but it's more helpful when the information is presented as it is in this book - as to teach, not just technical documentation of the API.

A good reference
I had no experience with jQuery when I was assigned to code additional web pages for a system that used it extensively. It proved to be well worth the money. It arrived on time and I used it a lot.

All versions the same
If you read one jQuery UI 1.x, do not buy the others. They are all the same, word for word. UI 1.6 to UI 1.7 does change the adjectives. Hooray! At least the publisher (author) could change the examples. It's a shame the publisher (author) saves their costs and loses returning customers. Learning 1.x is likewise. Watch those Packt books unles you are a first time buyer.

I was able to use the jquery UI objects effectively
the important concepts that this book combined for me was the connection of css with the implementation of the jquery UI objects. I was not truly aware of the dependence but learned about how to work both together.

You can find this all on the web for free.

Awful
This book is perhaps the worst technical manual I've ever read.It makes no attempt to explain the basics of what JQuery UI is used for, why you would want to use JQuery UI vs. basic JQuery, etc.

Technical but good book
Contains many useful code and examples that can easily be integrated to any webpage. The explanations are decent which helps in understanding the code. Not recommended for beginners.
