Works reasonably well if you soak your chips for a long time and then leave this smoker on the grill for an equally long period of time with the lid closed.

It really works great on a gas grill!

Used it the first time for a nice rack of ribs. Worked very nice, leaked a nice stream of smoke. But now the lifting handle is just a big magic wand, because the hook on the end of the smoking cylinder is tacked on very cheaply with two small beads that clearly can’t handle the heat. After no more than 3 or 4 lifts, the end just popped right off. It needs to be tack welded or molded into the end. I can still use it, but only with a pot holder. Shame, it’s a nice looking product, otherwise. Should take longer than an hour to break.

So you spend 45 dollars of hard earned money to purchase what looks like one of the best in grill smokers available on amazon. In the end, a 3 cent piece of aluminum foil placed on the grill surface appears to do just as good a job, or better. Now maybe it needs to be placed below the grill grate, but it doesn't say that in the instructions. It does however come with flexible metal straps so it can be positioned below the grill grate, but then it is nearly impossible to add chips on a hot grill. Mostly I was disappointed with the lack of smoke produced and the lack of flavor added to my food. The foil worked better!! Save your money

Have only tried this once, but we liked it so far. We soaked our chips longer than 5-15 minutes to help ensure that they did not burn. Very easy to use. We could taste the flavor. Will continue to experiment with other wood types (we started with hickory, cherry next). It is beautiful, well-made, sturdy. The only reason I didn't go with five stars is that we want to play with it more to see how much we will really use it.

It's ok. I mean, it's still a total mess to use wood chips even inside this thing, but I guess it keeps everything contained. It's never as pretty as when you first open the box. After the first use, it looks like a mis-placed muffler.
