Carbon is one of the most common forms of chemical filtration available today. Activated carbon does not break down, convert or add chemicals. It chemically adsorbs dissolved wastes from the aquarium, (absorption also occurs with activated carbon when it absorbs gasses). Most filter systems in aquariums and ponds large and small. contain a space for carbon. Guidelines for Use Before use: rinse filter media through until the water runs clear. When treating fish illnesses please remove Active Carbon from your filtration system. We recommend changing your Filter Media every 2-3 months.
