This product is exactly what you think it is. A small Track Master set with a battery powered Diesel Train.The set itself is simple to set up as it is round and not complicated to play with. The 'explosive' action is a simple plunger that a toddler can easily press and the mine wall it destroys is easily reset with a simple stack of three blocks.It is not the most exciting set compared to the Tornado or Dragon sets which are only a couple of pounds more, but if you want to test the waters with a simple track then this is a good and cheap choice. If you are looking for a Thomas train though, i would recommend this as a follow up set and not a first choice.The track is the newer Track Master type, so not compatible with older sets. The new track is pretty good in my opinion, its durable and can handle a bit of aggressive toddler handling...Overall, for Thomas lovers, a big recommend.

As described for a starter set - it would be nice to have a few more straight pieces to give a good overall track length for use with the motorized trains.

Purchased for my son's 2nd birthday. He's now 2.5 and is easier for him to assemble with some help, at two I feel it would have been better for his 3rd bd as takes bit of effort to click together. The detail on the engine and quality is fab.

The product arrived containing the incorrect parts, however the seller has been very good in making sure this was rectified and we now have a working train set and a very happy boy.
