This is a wonderful first person account of what it was like just to get your wings as a young cadet in WWII. A dramatic story that's never told. Wonderfully written and simply a great book.

I feel very lucky to know and consider Dick Harper my friend. I love his story and highly recommend his story to anyone interested in WW II history.

Captures the trials and tribulations of pilot training - the technology has changed but not the essence of the transformation from civilian to soldier and aviator. A pleasure to read and absorb, Harper shacks the target.

I know him. He's a great guy and served our country well.

Very engaging recollections of going through tough times. Would enjoy reading about the rest of his career also!Extremely well told!
