Elegant may be a strong word, but the point is, they blend in and don't disrupt the aesthetics of the tank. These work well, as advertised. Pretty simple to move the sleeve and allow plants to be added. I would say the only drawback is if you're trying to grow something that is wider than the individual holes. For instance, I had tried growing a small elephant ear plant that still had the bulb attached. Putting it in required taking out the sleeve to slip the narrowest part of the stem into the hole. This is fine, but removing the sleeve then disrupted the other plants I already had in there, so it's a matter of removing the whole unit from the tank, laying it down, and resetting everything. Still giving it 5 stars because that is pretty minor and it's just part of the overall design. I was happy with the cost based on the perceived durability of the product (I've had it going for about 2 months). Growth of the plants has been hit or miss, but I think that is more related to my lighting placement rather than these holders.

Easy to use and works, so I ordered more.

This is the second time I have ordered this style. I prefer this over many others I have tried this keeps my plants right where I want them with the ability to see root growth making it easy to know when to pull and replant things.

These were just OK. We wanted to start growing vegetables along the edge top of our fish tank. This fit over the edge of the tank nicely, but they just had a very bulky look to them. Also The vegetable leaf did not stand up very well. It was well made but didn’t really look the best.

I like the sliding lid. It makes placing and removing plants very easy. May be a little bit on smaller tanks as it hangs off a little bit for me, but it gets the job done. Nice and solid plastic piece.
