Animal Health 250ml Calci Care Liquid calcium supplement absorbed more rapidly than tablets whelping

I bought this to ensure that Millie, my female yorkie-poo, whelped safely. She had a previous litter when much younger - just 2 years old - and because I did not know about the need for calcium supplements on whelping, I had to rush her to the vet in the early hours when she suffered the very disturbing effects of low calcium -- the pups were a few days old and Millie started collapsing, her legs giving way under her. This was so upsetting to see. Luckily we got her to the vet in time and after a few hours on a calcium drip she recovered completely. With this pregnancy - unplanned as Millie is now 8 years old and coming on heat less frequently. However, she seduced a dog in the park before we realised what was happening. Luckily she chose well -- a lovely brown cocker-poo. Anyway, this time I followed vet's recommendations to the letter, feeding her puppy food until a week before whelping and administering Calci Care while whelping, then daily for the first week. While whelping she was distracted and barely noticed me slipping it into her mouth - it tastes disgusting. After that I had to mix it with her favourite food. Result - healthy mum and 6 boistrous pups -- thanks Calci Care.

Excellent product

I gave this to my dog whilst whelping, it made her really sick. I wondered if that was just the labour, so tried again later, but she absolutely screwed up her face and hated it - so I tasted it to see why she was reacting so violently. It is DISGUSTING, it is so unpalatable, no wonder so many reviews say the same. The vet said it burned the inside of her mouth, and I had to get treatment for her gums and lips. Do not use! It is revolting.

Easy to use but I prefer a different make which I couldn’t get so this was the next available only used after delivery of first pup & next one really made mum sick. Wouldn’t purchase again !

The media could not be loaded. This liquid calcium is very handy to have in a whelping kit, it has very little flavour so you can add it to food or water and there are measuring instructions on the bottle for the required dosage.
