Major Crimes: Season 2

...just keeps getting better!

I was a major fan of The Closer. I loved that show! I was so so sad to hear it was ending. I was thrilled to hear it was being resurrected (though in an altered state) with a break-off series called Major Crimes which included pretty much the entire previous cast, well except our beloved Ms. Brenda Leigh (Kyra Sedgwick) and her right hand man Detective David Gabriel (Corey Reynolds). Though season 1 of Major Crimes was somewhat condensed...Season 2 is marching right along. Every episode leaves me anxious for the next, just like The Closer used to do. The new series is a MAJOR success in my opinion! I hope the cast stays dedicated and awesome, and that the series will have a long run like The Closer did.If I was required to critique the new show, the only thing I can come up with is that I have not yet warmed up to the "way too hot to be true" new DA. I'm scratching my head with that casting choice. She just doesn't seem to fit yet. But hey, maybe that's how it's supposed to feel until something brings her into the fold...just like with Sharon Raydor's (Mary Mc Donnell) character. We all hated her in the beginning, but now she's our feisty mother hen. I guess time will tell with the way too hot DA...and I hope this series runs a really long time! PLEASE keep 'em coming! I am a MAJOR fan!!!

Major Crimes is one of my all time favorite shows. I missed watching some of the episodes when it was on tv so lucky to find reruns on Prime!

Major Crimes takes a different tack in how to approach police work. Where Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in The Closerwas the driving force, Captain Raydor stands back and let's her team work the job. She IS the finisher and the facilitator. She quietly views the possibilities. I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the past Closer team taking leadership roles. Provenza is a hoot, but also a savvy police officer. The entire team have stronger roles, so you get to know them better. I loved the episode with Tau and his son--the officer who is so grounded in the technical shows his father's love. Sanchez shows more humor; Flynn takes a more active role and shows his very human side; Buzz steps up and becomes more involved. Bringing in a female officer was another very good way to go. The dynamics are changed. Rusty, the Stroh witness, and his relationship with Capt. Raydor is powerful. Capt. Raydor now becomes a woman who is concerned about the "child" in her custody. Agent Howard returned in an episode. I liked that. I watched and have every Season of The Closer. I now have every episode of Major Crimes.

THE BEST idea TNT has was to keep all the characters from "The Closer". Additionally, the introduction and continued character of Graham Patrick Martin as Rusty Beck added the softness of character of Mary MCDonnell's harsh character of Sharon Raydor. Once we knew that Rusty was going to be part of the show, I relaxed and enjoyed seeing the crew again. Lieutenant Provenza, Andy Flynn, Mike Tao and Julio are such great actors and their characters stand tall every episode. Again, I did not care for Nadine Valazquex as Emma Rios because they made her much to harsh and bitchy. She has tamed a bit but honestly, I don't know if she is still on the show or not - she is null. It is great to see Fritz Howard once in a while. I was sorry to see his own tv show didn't work out - - disappointing. Great to have Major Crimes on my line up and always best with Amazon - - I just dislike advertisements so much. and I am grateful for this opportunity to watch it every week without the added, nasty distraction of (@$%^&advertisements.

All episodes played correctly from this vendor. That's important, because other vendors, I had to return the boxed set because season 2 had a totally defective disk. Good series if you liked Closer cast. The focus of Major Crimes is still catching folks, but now it's to make deals to prevent lengthy trials. The Rusty through line (the teen Raydor takes custody of) ties the season together.

I like the new Major Crimes with all the cast from The Closer though I still prefer the Closer and wish Kyra Sedgwick hadn't quit the series. With her went some of the other actors parts and hopefully they had some other place to go though the new series that Jon Tenney stars in now King and Maxwell seems to be doing OK. JK Simmons who played Pope is doing Farmers Insurance commercials as well as some movies. What happened to Corey Reynolds whose character supposedly left with Brenda? I haven't seen him show up anywhere so far.Mary McDonnell is great and I really like how they have softened her character a bit with her taking in Rusty and a really nice relationship has developed there. Now they have brought in her ex-husband so that is proving to create some interesting situations. Of course the transition would not have been complete without the characters of Flynn and Provinza and the interesting capers they get themselves into. I think in time this series will be as good and if possible maybe better than The Closer.I do know I am getting tired of actors and actresses that are up and quitting after being on a successful series. Now we get to look forward to Cote de Pablo's leaving NCIS after the first 2 episodes of the new season after being a very integral member of team Gibbs for 7 years. God, it's almost like the 7 year itch is hitting these actresses. I just hope this doesn't mean she will drop out entirely from working before the camera.

I love this series. The main ensemble cast is wonderful and since most were also on the long-running show The Closer, a viewing of Major Crimes is like a visit with family. Mary McDonnell is at her best in this series and her best is very, very good. I'll give the new characters in Season 2 a chance to grow on me. I didn't think I'd care for the "Rusty Beck" character when he was added last season, but now I can't imagine the show without him. The "Sharon Raydor" and "Rusty Beck" relationship brings heart to this marvelous crime drama.

This series, a spinoff from the excellent "Closer" series, with most of the Closer cast, gets better and better. The series doesn't appear to have been released in Britain but the European releases, from different countries, all play with the original soundtrack ( unless you choose the dubbed versions ). The acting is great and so are the stories. This, and the Closer are two of my favourite TV series of all time. Well worth watching. If you haven't seen The Closer, start with that and follow the character's stories as they develop.

This show just gets better and better. Major Crimes is a great procedural drama with an outstanding cast. The stories are engaging and often exciting. I am so glad it did not end with The Closer, the transition to Major Crimes was smooth and seamless. I am delighted that Season Two has more Episodes than Season One. I hope they keep making this series for years to come. With all the reality shows on the air, it is refreshing to enjoy outstanding performances in a great drama that often has comedic highlights.For fans of The Closer this is a MUST.
