Good books but are aligned with common core and difficult for kids...
The Singapore math books a little harder than other math books, and it really is common core math. I homeschool my two kids because of the common core in public schools so I don't know if I will purchase Singapore math books after these but if you don't mind common core they are good books; they are difficult for kids that have not had common core.

Focus on process turned my son off this book
My second grader didn't care for this book. It is highly focused on process, and he finds he can just get the right answer, so it's hard to convince him he needs to develop a rigorous process. For example, here is an intermediate problem from the book: "Aidan has 10 marbles. Taylor has 2 more marbles than Aidan. Rashad has 4 more marbles than Taylor. How many marbles does Rashad have?"The book wants them to draw little bar graphs with brackets identifying how many more marbles each kid has. While I'm trying to explain he should draw it out, my son just says "16." It's hard to argue with the right answer. For kids who may be having trouble with the logic of math, maybe this rigorous look at methodology would do some good. If your child is capable of producing the right answers without jumping through the hoops the book sets up, my experience was that it was hard to convince him the hoops are worth jumping through. That being said, even for kids who don't have the patience for process, there is some good word problem practice here.

60 pages ,half of it only have one or two questions.
Few pages, and most of the pages are just one or two question asking you write down your solution. It's not worth my money.

Poor presentation
I wasn't really sure what to expect or which level book to choose. I was a bit disappointed by the poor quality paper and drab black and white presentation of this book. I have used a couple of the questions for the SEN kids I teach but have paraphrased the questions to make them a bit more exciting. It would also be helpful to have a 'look inside option' and some description about the level of the work to help select which book to buy.
