The mats do not look or smell "plastic"
Even though the mats ship rolled up, I laid them flat under a braided table runner (it has a bit of weight to it) and after 24 hours they were as flat as the table top. They fool the eye and look like they are fabric. I can't comment on heat-resistant as the warmest thing to come in contact with them is a "pre-loaded" dinner plate. Do not expect them to serve as a trivet or a place to rest anything out of the oven or off the stove top. PVC composition... not approved for HOT items.

Technically there is nothing wrong with these placemats....
Technically there is nothing wrong with these placemats other than the green color is ugly. It is not what I thought it would be and I really don't like them. I am not sending them back simply because it would be a hassle and there really isn't anything physically wrong with them. I'll keep them and put them under plants on the patio later or they may just sit in the drawer for a few years until I do something with them.

Perfect
These were perfect! Love the color, love that they stay flat. They even hold up to cats walking on them, yes my cats walk on my table. I clean it before we eat off of it. I wash the placemats in warm soapy water and pat between dish towels to dry. I’m a stickler for using coasters on my wood, even my dining room table, they are great for that too.

Cheap placemats
Thought they could be used in the kitchen. Probably better for outside dining. Quality could be better. Does come with PVC odor and is lingering. Product is smaller then a typical placemat. Product is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. Would not buy again.

Horrible. Ugly color. Won’t lay flat. Cheap looking. Threw them in the trash can.
